New feature suggestion: Heal Layer placement

Hmm, sorry but I'm failing to understand when, where and how there would be any type of jump (of the healing tool in LA).

You create an adjustment layer, define it as healing layer, then you draw a mask with the brush over the area to be healed. When ended you see two circles, an orange one (area to be healed) and a white one (source area for the healing).
Either can be moved when the four-way-arrow shows up so either can be fine adjusted.

When you click on the Background layer you'll see how the healing will be looking. Clicking back on the healing layer you can change the mask (draw, erase, change size, hardness, opacity), the position of the area to be healed, the position of the source area for the healing. This checking the result (BG layer) and returning to the healing layer can be done until the desired result is achieved.

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure I understand you either. 😎

    My point is simply this...

When I click on and drag the white circle and when I release the mouse, the circle and the area I've selected, doesn't stay at the point of release. The area chosen moves very slightly. This causes mis-alignment when the area chosen is critical, such as an area of pattern or texture that has to fit exactly over the area to be healed.

It would be great if single pixel movements (up/down, left/right) of the white circle area could be made.

That's why I've suggested using the up/down arrows for this purpose.

    Thanks again.

I am seeing this effect as well.

After moving the white circle to get the desired result, on releasing the mouse button the cloned area jumps several pixels. It seems to jump in the same direction as the last movement made before releasing the mouse, even if the mouse has been stationary for a few seconds.

I find it can take several attempts to get the cloned area to line up as I want it. I guess I just got used to this behaviour, but it is annoying - I just wish it would stay where it was at the point you release the mouse button.

    C1P 8.3.4 on Windows 7.

Edit: just did a bit more experimenting and noticed it's actually the white circle that jumps when you release the mouse button - I had only been looking at the cloned area before and didn't notice this.

Precisely, and thank you for noticing too. 😉

    Second that also.

But....even if the fault is fixed, I'd still like to be able to move my heal selection (white circle) one pixel at a time with the arrows keys, as per my suggestion.
