Sorry for your problems Pablo. The software works on my computer, but I'm afraid you're 100% correct about you not being the only lost customer. In the past, I have been a huge proponent for C1, telling everyone I know about it, but no longer. IMO, management and developers decided beforehand what they wanted, and they weren't about to listen to us poor, pitiful, paying customers. After all, what the hell do we know?

The sad part is that, after reading the overwhelmingly poor reviews from the disappointed, disillusioned, and dissatisfied customers here on the forum, they haven't even bothered to post a comment. That seems to pretty well sum up their opinion of us customers, and clarifies and reiterates their contempt for us.

Just another example of corporate arrogance and stupidity. In the long run, I suspect photographers can live without their products better than they can live without our money!

When I first started using C1 way back (V1.0?) the support was excellent. I raised several issues - for example ad-hoc rotation for straightening horizons and with one or two maintenance releases it was there.

If I sent a support question I got a proper response very quickly. However I have not sent a support case for a long time so do not how well it works now.

But when they produce a beta test version and ask people for help it is downright rude to not acknowledge concernsand take at least some of it on board. Some of the response from Phase One staff on these forums have been extremely unhelpful and certainly do not reflect well on the company. And I speak as a Consultant Director who has run large scale customer service improvement programmes in my other life.

I use beta 2 for DNG files but I will not load the final release v4 as it has too many gaps and leaves too much unmanaged junk all over my disk. I will wait and see how V4 Pro appears. But in the meantime I will stay with 3.7.X and test drive alternatives to support my Canon 1Ds3 and my little Ricoh which produces DNG files both currently unsupported by 3.7.x.

I really, really do not want to commit yet more money to Adobe especially with their European pricing policy but I may have to go with Lightroom as it stays up to date with new RAW formats in a timely way.

Phase One has forgotten the most important: i something works OK, don´t change it. They were in the correct way. The has the most simple and powerfull raw developer. Now they have a beautiful-looking software, but it doesn't work in many computers, and when it works it is worst than CO3.
If I were the responsible of this software I would be really worried...

Martin, re: their customer support. tI think the term is "non-existant". I opened up a ticket over a week ago. Supposedly, they would get back to me within 24 hours. Still waiting. They just don't care, plain and simple.

** There is no Support Case submitted by you. **

Simply my opinion, and with nothing to back it up, but I think they're more concerned with courting Microsoft or another Biggie for a buy-out deal than they are with measley customers. I've seen this happen too many times with other companies - they're follwing the same pattern. It's called looking out for senior management .. * Read and Follow the Rules * with everybody else.

Their support in the USA completely VANISHED after Michael Tapes left them. While Michael was with them, the support was phenomenal.

Not so sure about that, I do not think that RAW conversion software is their primary source of revenue. They also do medium format cameras and studio management software. Not exactly the kind of thing that Microsoft would be interested in. Microsoft wants a BIG market, or they want to acquire useful technology for their own applications. Phase One has neither.

    Cheers, Joe

Joe, MS might not be interested in the entire company, but I suspect they might be very interested in having a very capable RAW converter since they don't have anything worthwhile now. I suspect PO might jump at the chance to shed of the software division, can some employees, and issue themselves a nice, big bonus! They win, MS wins and, of course, we photographers take it in the shorts once again. Perhaps the only customer service worst than PO's is MS's. Perhaps Bill need to concentrate less on charitable giving, as nice as that is, and concentrate more on his company.

    I can buy that BUT....

Capture One was originally designed to support tethered capture with their medium format cameras so (support for DSLRs was kind of an afterthought), they are intimately connected to one another. If they got rid of it they'd still need something to support their medium format boxes.

    Cheers, Joe

I agree, I'm surprised. I would HOPE there's quite a bit of scrambling going on there right now, but maybe I'm just being optimistic. Maybe they just don't care.

Okay, version 4 officially deactivated and uninstalled.

    Thanks for the memories.
