Backup - Cloud Storage - Anyone using CrashPlan?
After some research and reading reviews, I settled on CrahsPlan about three weeks ago.
Due to my poor upload speed provided by my ISP (Virgin) I am still very much in the process of my initial upload.
This morning, I turned on the computer monitor (the computer itself is on all the time - Power Settings/Sleep is set to NEVER) and saw that the backup was Paused and "Next Backup" would be in 18 hours.
Also, the LaCie 4Big Quadra external drive that the backup is being made from was in Sleep mode. Although I had unticked the box "Automatic Standby due to inactivity", this box was ticked again.
I restarted the Backup and it's running fine again now.
But, this was the first time in 3 weeks that I had to do this.
The only thing I changed was yesterday, in the CrashPlan control panel, under Settings/Backup/Frequency and Versions, I set Backup Frequency/New Version to Every Day from the default Every 15 Minutes.
Otherwise, everything is the same. "Backup will run" is set to Always. Verify Selection Every is set to 1 Day at 03:00, the default.
So, I'm mystified as to why the backup had paused? ☹️ And also why the LaCie Standby box had become set to 5 minutes again, instead of OFF all the time.

Been using them for years... Try contacting their support service. They can tell you how to tweak your settings to improve your upload. 0
