Read Only Images?

For a test: copy some of those 'read-only' images to a new folder on your internal disk. Open them in CO8. What happens?

Some more information might help like what read-only means (symbol?), session/catalog, type of file, version of CO8.

So, copied the files onto my hard drive and imported, and I can edit them. The original import is still read only.

They're .RAF (Fuji X-Pro RAW) files. Originally imported into the last version of CO 7.2, where I could edit them. CO8 got the edits, but can't make any new ones. By "Read Only", I mean the "Read Only" icon appears in the lower right corner and I can't make any adjustments. I had never seen it before and had to look it up. The CO manual mentions it means Read Only, and that the files may be on a read only drive, or marked read only in Finder's file properties, but doesn't give much more detail. I checked, and the files are writeable in Finder. One thing I considered is maybe the internal catalog files were marked read only in the catalog, but I don't know how to check that, and can't imagine how that could have happened anyway.

Here's a screen shot in the CO8 browser. Newly imported is on the left, "original" read only version on the right, with the icon.

Annoyingly, being "Read Only" means I can't even copy the adjustments to paste into the newly imported ones.

When I recap: you open a CO7 catalog into CO8 and images that were editable in CO7 are now read only in CO8. Images are referenced and stored on external media.
You again imported an image that is already in the catalog but now from the internal disk. The image is editable.

I suggest you contact support and refer to this thread. Either CO8 is more restrictive to your external media, or the catalog is corrupt. You could do a verify catalog from the File menu as well.
