Syncing backups on C1Pro10

Hi, This question has probably been covered but i cant find a definitive answer at the moment.

I want to find out where the containing folders are that save the info for tagged shots and adjustments. My issue is, i shoot to a macbook pro tethered on location, make manual backups to an external HD twice a day usually.

If i make changes to my edited shots (e.g tag new shots/ change colour tags from previous capture folders that have already been backed up) how do i sync back up and save the new tags and changes to my external HD without having to re copy over all the RAW files and slowing down my backup process. Is there a way to update my backup with all new changes? Sorry is this seems obvious...

I shoot in to sessions with standard file tree:
YYMMDD_Job/ Capture/ Shot 01,02,03 etc...

I have used Chronosync software in the past but im apprehensive as ive heard stories of others losing shots.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    I'm not following. Have you imported the sessions to your desktop, made changes there, and want to get those changes back to the laptop?

    I'm syncing CO sessions and catalogs between two computers and I sync the backups of those sessions and catalogs for years now. Only syncing by replacing the target, I never lost or broke anything. Just don't sync incremental or both ways. It can mess things up.

    Sessions store adjustments, ratings and stuff in sidecar files along with the images in a 'CaptureOne' subfolder within each image folder. Only session specific information and settings are in the session database.

    Thanks for your info Hans, ill have to run a test and see whether copying over the updated "Capture One" folder in each shot folder does the job but im pretty sure it will.

    Additionally, if it helps all the settings are stored in .cos files; if you can manage your synchronizing software to update only files with the .cos extension, that would accomplish what you're looking for.

    If you only do the .cos files, things like masks (.comask) and LCCs (.lcc) will be missing. And for your session stuff you need the session database (.cosessiondb). There are a few other things that will go wrong, too.

    Yes, this is true. I'd not mentioned those as the original post was referencing only tags and adjustments. If any other work (local adjustment, LCC, as you'd mentioned, as well as custom ICC profiles) is done on images, it'd be just easier to copy over the whole Settings100 subfolder. Focus mask and preview files (.cof and .cop respectively) do not need to be brought over as they will be generated on the fly by Capture One the next time it views the file, though it will have to rebuild the previews anew.
