The C1 Catalog Is Not Working So Well For Me

C1's catalog features are so far behind Aperture (and even Lightroom) that it's making it difficult for me.

    A double-click on an image in Aperture toggles a fit-to-window view of the image and then back to the browser. So good. I can't find anything like that in C1.

    C1's keywording is primitive, at the best.

    Not being able to delete and remove an image from the library when you have an image selected in an album is a huge pain.

    No routine means of transferring part of a library from a laptop to a desktop makes real-world workflow hard.


How are you guys making do?

    Hi Bob, neither for me. I really like the interface, I really like the free workflow and the many many possibilities, however the software is not so fast and not so stable.
    Keywords??, I will never do that in C1, I'm trying Media Pro and is way better, C1's approach is as you wrote, primitive.
    What is a no go for me and something makes me take a resignation attitude and take a xxx-Time close-up to LR5 is that lack of stability, even though my iMac is really fast and almost new with the highest upgrade options, working with C1 has been more a nightmare than a pleasure (when it works is great fro editing).

    Yes, in many ways C1 is slow - it's particularly noticeable in importing and creating previews. But exports are slow, too.

    I'm almost to the point of going back to Aperture for it's library. But I haven't hit on a good way to get Aperture's library and C1's development tools working together. I'm going to tomorrow's seminar to see if there are any tips there.

    I feel pretty confident that Aperture's file structure and metadata will transfer to the new Photos app when it comes out. It's the image adjustments I'm worried about and why I wanted to get to a more professionally committed raw converter (C1). But I may have to just go back to Aperture for everything and hope that Apple takes care of me with Photos.

    And if they don't? Well, I'd be stuck right back here again with more time invested in Aperture's image adjustments. ☹️

    I did set that up (I made mine Option-V and Option-B, to make them consistent). But I didn't catch the part about switching from the browser to the viewer. So that makes it a bit better since Option-V (in my case) will toggle between the two - just like Aperture's double click. Too bad I can't customize the C1 double-click response! 😊
