Fuji S5 - what controls???

Phase One kindly answered that both S & R pixels of the S5 are in fact used, however what I'm not trying to figure out is what controls (exposure etc.) cause the S & R pixels to actually be used.

I want this to post to the "dpreview Fuji SLR" forum where RAW converters are often compared.

So, if possible could you outline how those pixels are combined and which controls cause say the R pixels to come into play?
