OK, I finally got 4.1.1. up and working on my new PC

But I have a problem I can't figure out. 4.1.1. puts the previews (.cop) files on my data drive. This does not work as my data drives are for images only - I have a dedicated scratch drive I set up for these type of files- these .cop files are 1.5-2MB each! I can not find the option to save these to the same scratch where I store 3.7.7 previews, where can I find that adjustment?

Also when developing the image I select the directory to place it and created a directory for that shoot of images (unfortunately I see the option for use same directory as RAW file is gone) But then when I go to a 2nd shoot of images I create a new directory for them and when going back to the 1st set it has lost the original directory I created and uses the 2nd.

I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out what I am am doing wrong.

Finally if I activate 4.1.1 I know I can keep 3.7.7 running in parallel (I will need to for years for consistency to use the setting from my past 30k+ images). Then if say I have a hard drive crash and need to re-install 3.7.7 can I activate 3.7.7 again or do I loose this by having transfered license to 4.1.1?

    Thanks-
    Al

Also I can not find how to delete these preview files. Where is the "Clean Up the Preview Cache" button or the empty on exit or after a set time option?

    Hi Al,

With CO4 all preview and settings files are stored with the images. Nothing new for CO3 Mac users, but new for Windows users. There is no option to store it elsewhere, neither to remove the preview .cop files. There has been a lot of discussion here about that and several workarounds (do a search with Explorer and delete the files in the search for example).

In CO4 you can only set a single output folder (any folder) at a time which is independent from the images folder. Having an images related output folder is a feature request Phase One must already have received.

Your activation question can best be answered by Phase One staff, either through this forum or in a direct support case which you can open.

    OK, curious change.

I guess having built the system with one OS/Application drive, a separate scratch drive and then connecting my USB/eSATA data drives as needed doesn't provide benefit with 4.1. It does for 3.7.7 though.

    Thanks-
    Al

You can benefit from your (physically) separate scratch drive by placing the Windows page file on that drive and assign the Photoshop scratch disk to it.
You might already be aware of these options.
