A few hopes for future C1 enhancements
Currently testing C1 7.1.3 for my use to replace LR.
The good news was the feature for converting straight from LR catalog and continue work in C1.
Looks promising, still much work to be done.
As a few things are really important for my work I'll raise my hopes to:
1) a easier way to input the EXIF-GPS location of the pictures taken
- even the current aproach in LR would be fine?
2) Keywords. This is very, very important for me (and others around me). The current LR
beats C1 in this area, but is still far from what it could be, some notes here:
- hierarcial keywords (+ for LR)
- keyword sets (+ for LR, BUT - for limiting this to just 9 for one set, and allowing only
one set open at a time
- freely position the small windows (big plus for C1)
- user definable shortcuts (big plus for C1)
Using thousands of keywords so the current implementation in C1 just doesn't work for me.
Big documentary project with > 100 000 pic files.
Anybody care to add thoughts to this area of interest?

Kirmo,
Your wish list reads like something for a Digital Asset Management application and the number of images you mention would surely justify that sort of product.
Have you looked at Media Pro?
Right now that would seem to offer something that is more like the functionality you are seeking.
How, perhaps, Capture One and Media Pro might develop together in the future would be interesting to speculate about. But as this is a user to user forum, mostly, speculation is all that you could expect from it unless it changes to be a different type of forum.
It might be good for you to create a support request and provide the details of your wishes. That, currently, is the method by which the Phase development people gather suggestions from users and potential users so that they can assess how much demand there is for new ideas and then prioritise which developments to undertake next.
HTH.

Grant,
I'd like to see things implemented into just one product. Many things well in C1 and also
oin LR but still many things missing. It's not so big effort to make the kind of things I'm
speaking here.
I did software development over 30 years and done my share. Now just wanting to photograph
and use programs that others have done!
I have tried to talk by different means to CaptureOne: emails, normal letter bvia postal service,
local CaptureOne dealer, C1 support. No great success! No responses.
Hoping that others would give response and maybe this would fasten things?
Like for the EXIF-GPS info. Even the cheap cameras have the chips, but the IQ180 or Canon
1 series are missing them. Doesn't make sense to start collecting data with separate equipment
and running scripts to get the data into the picture files. Tried this but way too clumsy. I'm soon running
of chargers and batteries if I need to take all these on remote places where I go!
Well it only took around 3 years to get the USB3 after buying IQ180 (which was promised to have it when bought).
So maybe in C1 12.1.7 we have these features?
I have tried MediaPro but not going to use it. Don't see a long history left for the product.
thanks, Kirmo0 -
I wont comment on possible future enhancements to Capture One, but rest assured that we do listen to the feedback we get through all the different channels; support case, this forum, emails and even Facebook and Twitter and take it into account when planning future releases of the software. 0
