The second is mentioned by many and I'm confident it will change... the black background is not at all to my taste or useful... especially for the spinning wheel icon in the lower right corner to see if you are still processing.

Still, it's better to log a support call for this also. Maybe the issue is getting a higher priority that way..

As a former beta tester for iView MediaPro and Expression Media I would like a like to find a path to suggest enhancements or report bugs other than these user forums. Then link you provided assume and require the person to have a digital SLR, other PhaseOne software and digital back in order to use. As an amateur user I don't have those so can't use that path to report. Do you know of any patch to customer support other than that link or this forum?

    Thanks,

It's nice to see you around here, Old Toad. I hadn't noticed you on the forums in a long while.

I also got stuck on that support page where it asks what camera you have. I just put some random response in the questions that are not relevant and it lets me through to the support team anyway. They need to fix that form 💡 but in the mean time you can make up a fake camera system and continue on your way to report the trouble.

I got that far but then didn't see a field where I could add my text. Maybe I didn't go far enough. I don't like the highlight color or contrast when dragging items onto keywords or catalog sets. There's not enough contrast for many of my photos or screenshots that I often drop them on the wrong item. Media Pro 1 is obviously geared toward younger eyes than mine. ☚ī¸

    OLD TOAD---

Great to see you back !!!

Actually, I hold you responsible... you solved all of my iView and ME problems and hooked me on this potentially great software 😊

I'm actually pretty much stuck now... no other solution has all the file converters I want (ME2 has stopped upgrading) and / or they make impossibly large catalog files (30x larger) like LightRoom and just won't work on my laptop as they take too much space on my little SSD drive. I think the Phase One folks are a lot more like iView in terms of desire to fix it; I just hope they didn't buy it just to add features to PhaseONe Capture and don't really have a commitment to a standalone catalog...

How are you doing? welcome back

Since I only use jpeg files MP1 works for me except for the highlight issue. I agree about the adding feature just for PhaseONe. I push MP1 frequently in the Apple Support Discussions when users want something that lets them control the folders that the original/source files are kept in but still have metadata and other features of iPhoto.

I tell them to do what I do: user MP1 as their primary DAM and iPhoto for special project like books, calendars, etc.

Good advice. I just can't get worked up about iPhoto or Aperture (or lightroom for that matter)... the odd method of importing everything and making huge databases is just wrong.

I use Photomechanic to keyword (right in the file), Photoshop ACR to convert (I shoot all raw) and MP1 for Dam with everything on an external HDD (and a back up external HDD). All three of those apps, in my opinion, are the best at what they do and so far, no one has come up with a single do all app that works.

I made the move from windows 5 years ago and I don't want any more huge changes again 😊

    cheers,

    Just to note Tom,
Neither Aperture or Lightroom force you to import files into a database if you don't want to. You can make as many libraries in Aperture as you want. Pretty much the same as MP1.

I have to say I am terribly disappointed in MP!. Constant crashes, poor round-tripping workflow, etc. At the moment MP1 appears to be nothing more than a DAM program and these days that just isn't enough.
