Import of Data Failure
I am upgrading from Expression Media v1 to MediaPro v1.3 on a Mac running OS X 10.6.8. I created a new catalog in MediaPro and dragged a folder containing photos with data generated in Expression Media and synced to the files. The data did not appear in the new catalog. Checking the file info using PhotoShop, I can see the ExpressionMedia data. Creating a new catalog in Expression works fine.

Did you trie to open the 'old' EM catalog in MP instead?
Then you can save this catalog in the new MP format.

Yes, and it did seem to work at first but if I make a change to the data and sync, I loose everything. 0 -
I'm asking around to get a better understanding.
Did you trie to upgrade to EM version 2 first?
So from the last EM version to MP (1.3, 1.2 or 1.1.)?

Disregard my last response. I should have waited until I returned to my photo workstation. I figured it out and I gave you bad info.
I do not loose everything when I sync. The problem is that when I make a change to a jpeg and then sync, the change is applied to both the original RAW file and the associated XMP file. In addition, the XPM file gets priority.
What I didn't realize is that the there are "Prefer Sidecar XMP over Embedded Metadata" and "Ignore Embedded Metadata when Sidecar XMP exists" preferences that are selected by default. Deselecting causes MP to behave as I was used to having it under EM.
I do have a follow up question. How do I get XMP files to display after it is created? When I update the folder, they do not display.
Sorry for wasting your time and those you may have contacted with the sync issue.0 -

Indeed, they are not 'visible' in Media Pro but you should see them when browsing the corresponding folder (directory).
I don't think it's possible to see the XMP files in folderview in Media Pro.
