I've just upgraded to 8.3 and now Capture One isn't seeing my images in the film strip. When i go to a certain folder within my catalogue the images in the film strip show up for an instant and then vanish leaving no images to select.

I've just tried selecting another year and when loading I'm getting the bar stating 'Saving' but it's an endless save as it never (so far) ends.

I have my folders arranged into years and then into the dates within those years that I took images.

At the present moment Capture One is unusable.

I have tried re-booting my computer to see if that helped, it didn't! 😕

My experience since C1 V3 has been that updates and upgrades are drama-free. 8.3 - not so much.

It would now appear that un-installing and re-installing Capture One as well as turning the computer off for a short while seems to have solved my problem and Capture One is back to it's former glory; very odd day for me... 😊

I am still seeing a couple of problems that appeared in earlier V8 releases.

    1. In the Export Image dialog, after starting Capture One, the first time you change the setting of the "Store Files" control, it does update the text shown on the control and the text shown for the Sample Path. However, subsequent changes to the Store Files setting does not change the text on these two controls. The export operation does use the new settings, even though they are not displayed on the controls. If you close the dialog and reopen it, the controls do show the changed values.

    2. Most numeric controls allow you to change the value by hovering the mouse pointer over the number field and use the mouse scroll wheel. However, for the White Balance and Exposure controls, you have to click in the numeric fields before you can change them using the mouse scroll wheel. This is inconsistent.

Yeah.. weird, I had to uninstall and reinstall then restart my PC for the OpenCL to work.

All bugs I had earlier still hinder to work. And it seems that number of problems increase more and more ☹️((

    As I outlined here> viewtopic.php?f=57&t=19087

...there appears to be a conflict between the Spot Removal Tool and the Color Editor in 8.3 - just like there was with the release of 8.2, funnily enough.

Confirmation of this would be nice.

    Thanks.

And you've raised support cases for them, of course?

Of course, I wrote tech support about them a couple of weeks ago. So I'm waiting for the next updates

Well, still no D7200 support. I am a patient person but .... To be fair, my favorite image processing package, Paintshop Pro (which I have C1 launch after NEF conversion and tweaking), doesn't have support yet either.

Now to take a swipe at camera manufacturers. Why does every model have to have a different RAW format? The D7200 is not much different from the supported D7100. Some reviewers say they even have the same sensor. This claim is now in considerable dispute but even so, how difficult would it have been to come up with identical NEF formats? I realize it is possible with other software to render D7200 NEFs into a supported format but I use C1 precisely because it is the very best RAW converter out there and I don't want to risk anything by pre-processing.

Oh well. The wait continues. I am in my 70's, Phase One. Don't take too long 😉

    Best wishes,
    JH

    Ah!

JH, shame on you. Your are far too old to be dabbling with the latest and greatest digital technology.

You should, of course, be using older and supported technology in alignment with your (claimed) age. It is only right and proper. Moreover it may well be all you need. Much better than being sucked into the "young person's" world of buying every new bright and shiny device the advertisers pass before your eyes.

    😉

More seriously ... I would assume there may be some challenges to providing support for the camera you mention. A long wait is unusual. Maybe there are some inconsistencies or other matters to deal with before any close to Official Support can be offered?

    Grant,

Enjoyed your response. I know the D7200 support will arrive. Phase One's excuse would probably be that since they provide the best conversions and RAW processing this takes extra time to get just right. I'd much rather that way than that they drop their standard. Among other things, they independently determine the color profile of each new camera's sensor which I doubt very much most of their competitors do.

There used to be a restaurant here notorious for extremely slow service. When the complaints became a major concern, theyposted a large sign bragging "Good Food Takes Time to Prepare!". No one knew what to make of that as the food was not actually very good at all but the audacity of that sign bullied patrons into silence.

"Great RAW Converters Take Time to Prepare!"

    Best wishes,
    Garth K.

Is there any further information that can be shared about what "Preliminary file support for 5DS" means?

Having tried a couple of 5Ds files picked off the internet it would seem that some very good results are available.

Normally image quality matters are tested on released products. The cameras are not yet on the shelves so may not have been tested completely to satisfaction in final configuration. There may be more to come but presumably Phase are happy enough with results so far to offer the preliminary release.

There may also be questions about tethering and what is available (from Canon) to deliver a complete tether solution for the current release. In theory, as the "retail" cameras have not yet shipped so far as I know, that might not matter quite so much as it could not have been easily tested. (Unless, of course, Phase have had access to a production ready body or two for a few weeks ....).

Whether you can obtain more information than my guesswork I don't know. You might raise a Support Case to see if you can find out?
