Phase One and Drew thank you for a great release - finally new contrast works so much better compared and paired with clever saturation slider gives much more predictable results then before.
Also looks like catalog loading time is much smaller right now.
Great progress in right direction.(in direction of performance and quality ).0 -
I saw one of the features of C1 9 was three license. This is great. Does this apply to those onus upgrading or just the new ($299) buyers?. If I get van extra license, the upgrade is a no brainer! 0 -
I currently subscribe to Capture one for Pro 8.3.2. It was a 12 months subscription. I have now had this for just over 12 months. Can I cancel this subscription and take out a new one for Pro 9 and continue paying monthly. 0 -

I am guessing you would like an official answer about this but this place is, primarily, a User to User forum.
Your best option would be to contact Phase directly.
HTH.

Or does one simply have to pay the $50 price that any Sony Express user would pay to go to Pro? I knew that the Pro (Sony) license didn't get a free upgrade, but expected some sort of discount. 0 -

You don't have to change anything. The subscription is not connected to a certain version. You can directly start using version 9.0 -

It seems the support for auto-masking will not come.
No, it will not. This is not a decision we have arbitrarily made, it is a limitation of the RAW file and Fuji's rather complicated Bayer Filter. I am sorry but the Fuji Restrictions, as noted in the release notes, are inherent to the file and will remain this way in Capture One.
I wonder how Adobe is able to implement Auto-Masking for Fuji RAWs, if the files are so limited!?
This is a really bad excuse in my opinion - why don't you just say, that you wont give that topic any resources because of reason XY?
It's really a shame, because C1 is one of the best X-Trans RAW converters when it comes to X-Trans demosaicing and the overall look. I suppose that many Fuji photographers are also PhaseOne customers.
I have a better suggestion for - lobby Fuji to drop x-trans CFA layout, that's it... as you notice Fuji itself drastically reduced the marketing bs about the virtues of it... and all the problems for Fuji users will be gone in a finger's snap moment. 😂0 -
Is there an upgrade discount for Capture One 8 Pro (Sony) owners?

Here in the UK there is a 10 Euros discount, so an upgrade price of 40 Euros + Value Added Tax of 8 Euros which equates to a total of about £340 -

Am I correct in thinking that to upgrade my CO 8 to CO 9 (single user) it will cost me €269 but additionally +25% vat because I am in the UK?...
Incorrect. Upgrade cost is $99. Purchase cost (no previous version) is $299.
Not sure how the VAT works in the UK but you'd be basing it off the upgrade price, not the full version price.
Existing CO 8 single user is 2 seats. If we upgrade to CO 9 does this increase to the 3 seat that new purchases are?

Hello
David Grover explained this better to me on a Fuji forum:
"Once again - we use the Bayer mask to auto detect which is not present in the Fuji RAW file. So that would mean completely creating a whole new way of Auto Masking simply for one camera. So in that way it is expensive.
I hope you understand. We are not preventing auto masking on Fuji cameras to be obtuse, as with any new feature - you have to toss up what should be highest on the 'to do' list. "
This was in response to my question about why the option to create a color-based layer automatically works for X-Trans, but auto-mask does not.0 -

-- Yes it should, it just other benefit why you can upgrade to C9 almost for free (i.e in price of third licence.)0 -
Do we have an official answer on if CO 8 to CO 9 upgraders get the third seat? 0 -

Note that that is a particularly unfair thing to say as the XTrans sensor is quite technologically advanced, as is the Foveon sensor which isn't supported at all by Capture One.
The x-Trans sensor is quite superb especially in terms of reducing image noise, the color filter minimizes the generation of moire and false colors thereby eliminating the necessity for an optical low-pass filter in the lens and enabling the sensor to capture the full “unfiltered†resolution and descriptive quality of the lens. This technology inspired by the naturally irregular distribution of silver halide crystals on film.
Note that I am also a Fujifilm user and, as far as I can see, Phase One has done a stellar job in demosaicing Fuji RAW files and the minor inconveniences of LCC, auto mask, export DNG, repair layers not being supported is not really relevant. Personally I don't care about Auto-Mask because of the problems with edges, but I certainly miss not being able to generate LCC's
And if you look at the new Sensor patents coming out from Canon we are in for an interesting time with sub-dividing high and low-density pixels.
I, for one, as a Canon and Fujifilm user appreciate the effort by Phase One in making Capture One the best RAW processor (for me anyway) out there.0 -
yes it does so.
Just contact customer support and they will do that for you.
