4.5 pro trial crashes when 1ds mkiii is attached (vista 32)
4.5 pro seems to run ok without a camera connected, but as soon as i connect my camera it crashes.
If I launch with the camera connected it crashes.
If I launch with camera connected to EOS utility, 4.5 pro runs but can't see the camera in the camera tab (says no camera attached).
Anyone else having this issue?

I have that exact same issue with a 40D, and another user have reported that aswell. Though since others have managed to tether 1Ds mk3 maybe it's a Vista problem? Still waiting for tech support to answer my last ticket update. 0 -
Funny you should mention. I came here looking for a solution. My 5D works like a champ, just like it did in version 3.X. My 1DMkIII is horrible, in version 4.5Pro, just like it was in version 3.X. I tried it this AM hoping Version 4.5Pro would be the solution. The first few exposures seemed to come up ok, but now nothing. Same as you, when I use Canon's software, C1 doesn't see the camera. If I don't use it, it still doesn't work, it might just freeze. Contant ERR99's.
I think this is a Canon Issue, and I fear Canon just doesn't care.
Anyone have any better luck tethering the MKIII series?0 -
NO !
All is good with Xp,
but with vista Shooting tethered is impossible with P30and
1DS Mark III !
Tomorrow, I crash definitively Vista !0 -
Is your Vista (32-bits) running Service Pack 1 already? 0 -
Yes vista sp1 !
But i'm trying to change vista to Xp.
It's the ultim chance to work with my latpop and my differents cameras !0 -
I went into my camera shop to B**** about my MkIII and to see about selling it and upgrading to a working 5D because of tethering issues. Turns out there were to canon reps standing behind me.
they loaned me a version 19.0 canon solutions disk, which I installed and it seems to be working. But I've been there before, and will only hope that it's a fix.
Odd, I don't use any of the software that I installed (that I know of), but now it's working. Go figure.
It's worth a try, all you can do is fail miserably, and that's where you are now.
(I'm on XP still)0
