How to stop automatic startup
C1 DB 6.3, Mac, Snow Leopard
How do I stop Capture One from starting every time I put a card in the reader?
In Capture One Preferences, I have deselected "Open Importer when mounting removable media" and deselected all four camera "Providers".

Hi there,
slot a memory card into your Mac, ignore C1 opening. Then start the tool “Image Capture†(should be either in your Application folder or Applications/Utilities), select your card and edit the settings from “Automatically open in Capture One†to whatever application you prefer. Or “noneâ€, for that matter.

Thank you Sascha! That worked exactly as you instructed.
Interesting thing... After doing it, I looked through Image Capture help, and all I could find about automatic app loading when a memory device is plugged in was how to fix it if it did NOT start automatically. I don't understand why Apple has made this "feature" so difficult to manage.0 -
Glad it worked for you. [quote="schuster" wrote:

“Image Capture†is sort-of a legacy application, originally meant for scanner support. I was quite surprised it’s still included even in Lion. Point is, by now (10.7), scanners are managed in the “Print & Scanâ€Â panel (formerly “Printersâ€), iPods/Phones/Pads in iTunes and/or iPhoto/Aperture, digital cameras in iPhoto or Aperture, too. (Or whatever other image management application you prefer.)
Seems its quite deeply embedded in some framework or another, though. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Image Capture went the way of the dodo sooner or later.

Just for the record, there is also a Phase One KB article on it:
