    Hi Michael,

I did a bit different but it works out to about 26-29sec per 16bit Canon 1Ds file which is 64mb using

    Dual Opteron 250 (2.4Ghz)
    8Gb of ECC ram
    U320 SCSI 15k and 10k disks

the same operation in ACR took only 5.5sec!!!! ?? time to speed up our gorgeous looking CaptureOne software, so she isn't just good looking like a Mac but also fast like a PC 😉 actually I think the Mac's are probably faster running C1 then comparable PC's its a bit sad. I better find the info to back it up but I am pretty sure. and till C1 supports multi-core cpu's there is no need o upgrade processors yet! (though a pair of Opteron 290 would be sweet!)

    Hi Michael,

how are you timing your run?

I go and read the first file when it was created and then the last file and calc the time from that.

Michael I got about 1 min 40 secs on my new rig. Dual Athlon 4800, 4GB RAM, 3GB switch *not* set, 150GB Raptor.

    Henrik

PS: it looks like you got yourself a really nice system!

No, they're a little larger, total 92.9MB. And you helped me configure that system! 😉

Henrik your math is a little sleepy here. 😉 2.50 min is not 25 sec each, it's more like 17 sec each.

Reminds me of a big Thanksgiving get-together years ago. The hostess (who started on the wine early) read the instructions for the 20-pound turkey which said cook for 20 min per pound. She thought, 20x20 = 400, so that's four hours. (!) The turkey ended up not being ready till midnight, by which time we were all so drunk as not to care that it was still somewhat on the rare side. 😉

hey Nill, what camera were the files from, I'm about 17 seconds with a single opteron 275 with 2gb of ram. The boarb can support another CPU and plenty more ram but I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make.

They were 20D RAW files to 8-bit jpg, tried to match Michael's test but I guess the files were bigger. Let me do it again and make sure I timed it right...

Yep, 105 seconds for the ten conversions, so 10.5 seconds each on that run.

Note that C1 will make use of two processors, but in the current version no more than two.
