Local color adjustments not working

The colour editor is, in concept, a little different in the way it uses masks.

In part that is likely to be because it has the unique ability to create a mask from the selected colour (range) throughout the image.

If you don't wish to use that feature for your changes the whole image is selected for adjustment.

To reverse that (or limit the effect of the colour only selection mask) you can use the erase brush to remove the automatic mask from areas where you do not want to see its effect.

However it can be used as quite a complex tool even before considering masking so if you find you use it a lot I would suggest taking some time to investigate it in depth.

Hi, thanks for the input but I'm not sure of what you're saying.
I know that I can create a mask from a colour selection and then erase everything that I don't want to affect, but since I've seen several tutorials on your Youtube channel where people use the Brush tool to locally adjust with the color editor, I want to be able to do that too. Have you changed that functionality recently?

If I have a picture with several types of red berries and I only want to affect the strawberries, I want to just brush over them and then use the advanced colour picker to select the reds of that layer and then for example change the saturation on just the strawberries, but even if I'm on my selected strawberry layer, my locally selected red saturation slider affects all the other reds as well.

    Like this:

You're saying that that doesn't work anymore, so he would have to select the skin tone, create a mask from it and then erase all the areas, like the beige sand in the background and maybe some hair, from the layer and he can't do what he was doing anymore?

I just tried your process and it worked fine on my setup.

Created a layer, used advanced color and used the eyedropper to select the range.

I then manipulated the color. The changes stayed within the masked area.

    So it does work.

I noticed sometimes C1 will lose a functionality for one reason or another. Sometimes going to another image will fix it, sometimes switching layers will do the trick. Sometimes you gotta restart the program.

    Thanks for confirming.
Yeah, I've noticed that too, however in this case, I've tried restarting the program, restarting the computer and switching between images and catalogs with no difference in behaviour. That's why I'm beginning to think that it's an X-trans problem. I think I saw that Fuji files got some features later than everybody else in Capture One but I might be wrong?

Do I have to reinstall the app?

Does anyone know if my catalog or whatever it's called, gets deleted if I uninstall the application?

You can find some info on the Phase One website or affiliated, such as:
    https://captureintegration.com/how-to-c ... 10-7-10-8/

    But also on Google 😉

I never asked how to uninstall the application though, but thanks!
