Plugins?
I'm another long time Aperture user that will need to migrate to a new platform at some point and I'm really hoping it can be Capture One. I love the rock solid tethering and my NEF files just look better in CO than in Aperture or Lightroom. However, I use the Nik suite of plugs extensively in my work. Is there still no good way to round-trip an image out to Photoshop and back? Anything new in CO8 that will allow me to use these plugs without having to tediously export and then re-importing again? Thanks for any insights.

At this time we do not support any third party plugins.
However, could you describe what you are trying to obtain, and maybe we can guide you on how to achieve the same using the tools of CO8?0 -
Christian - Thanks for the follow-up. In Aperture I can designate Photoshop as my external editor and with one key stroke send an image to PS. I use the miscellaneous Nik plugs and when finished, close the image and the processed photo returns as a duplicate in Aperture (as either a tif or psd). Really simple. Aperture also supports the Nik plugins but I prefer to use them in PS where the adjustments show up as layers which allows me to adjust transparency values etc. So what I'm looking for is a quick way to get an image to PS and then right back into CO. Does that make sense? 0 -
Christian,
Is the Profoto Studio plugin no longer compatible if no third party plugins are supported?0 -

I wish you were. No software can do everything, not even Adobe or Apple with their billions. So opening up to specialised single purpose plugins only makes sense. It could even be as simple as providing a round trip to Photoshop. This would satisfy great majority of users since pretty much all plugins support Photoshop.
Rev 8 brings about a terrific performance improvement on the Mac. It really is noticeable and while still not in the Aperture league, it is certainly compares well with Lightroom. We just need that round trip to Photoshop...0
