Capture One 6.1.1 cache
Hello,
I was wondering where the CO 6.1.1 keeps it's cache and is there a way to limit the amount of disk space used for cache and also use another hard drive for cache? My system is on SSD and there is a 2TB RAID 0 array for other files, including cache (CS5, for example).
Windows 7 64-bit (SP1)
CO 6.1.1

Hi..if you're thinking in terms of the central Preview folder (as in Windows versions through 3.9)...on Version 4 and forward that file info and previews are placed and kept in the image folder. That allows them to be persistant (you don't have to clear previews to keep a central Preview folder manageable...so clearing the Preview folder is no longer a concern or option)
As you noted, there's usually much more inexpensive room on your image drives, and if you like to edit files loaded to your SSD's for performance reasons, then transfer that image folder to your RAID, the files move inside the image folder along with the related images, and will be found when the files are accessed by COne.
As far as limiting the size, you CAN control the size of the previews to minimize the footprint of those files, however...it's usually not a concern in the era of 2TB drives...so I tend to generate those larger than minimum.
IMHO, this is far more flexible than other RAW solutions, where moving the image files means recataloging....with COne, you simply move the image folder. It's that easy. A good workflow idea, however...is to separate the image folders into smaller logical sizes rather than adding to a single folder...hope that helps.0
