9.0.3. Mac Crop Bug?
Hi all,
I'm not sure when this happened, but I've noticed my crop panel seems broken. Basically it shows a dimension of 800 x 530 px and this doesn't change regardless of how I crop the image. I was planning on upgrading to 9.1 but was planning on waiting for 9.1.1 due to the bugs reported.
Is the crop issue a known bug in 9.0.3? I'm sure I'd have noticed before now? (This is shown for all images, cropped or not)
Please see below.

Have you checked your process recipe? Maybe you have a 800px long edge dimension selected there. 0 -
It says 'Original' for Ratio. Please check your Output Recipe. Did you set the scale to a Width x Height = 800 x 533? Guess so. That's no bug, it's what this combination is meant to do.
If you want to add a new aspect ratio to the crop tool, click on the Ratio list and use 'Add Aspect Ratio'.

Sorry, was indeed the process recipe. I didn't realise it had this effect in the cropping tool. I've changed the recipe and now all is well again.
Thanks

Been there, I know it's a bit confusing at first. 😊
What you need to understand though is that the 800x533 crop (or whatever) won't be applied until you process your images to JPEG/TIFF.
E.g. Say I have your 800x533 recipe selected, if I have a 5472x3648 px RAW file and I crop out 100 px on the right, CO will display a 5472x3548 image. It won't resample it to a 800x533 px image straight away, of course.
So ultimately it doesn't matter much if your crop tool says 800x533px, you can more or less ignore it until you need to process your images to JPEG/TIFF.0 -

This is the bit I also find very confusing about the crop tool, I find it completely counterintuitive, perhaps because I have never gotten to the bottom of this.
Effectively, I can crop an image with an 800x533 process recipe, the size in the crop tool will appear as per the OP. No problems with that so far. But if the image is only resampled when it is processed, this also means I can choose a different process recipe with 5472x3648 as the size, assuming I have enough pixels the image would never be resampled, certainly not down to 800x533, and the size of the chosen crop changes.
I am guessing that what happens is that the Ratio is kept as per the original image, no problem with that. However, the bit that I find most confusing is thatI can change the Ratio to 1:1 or any other aspect ratio other than the original, and, of course, the size does not change because the image requires a re-crop. A re-crop required warning will be lovely.0
