how do you know which settings are set

Hi.

Base state is - All tools in each toolstab are collapsed. You see only tools captions.

How do you know You set new settings to e.g curves/luma.
How do You know e.g. deep blue sky is achieved because You set new curve, but do not use color editor ?
Remember - You see only collapsed tools.

Ok. Curves is expanded. How do You know, You used luma curve without clicking on luma caption ?
