    Part 2 -

All the NEF files are still in the relevant Capture folder in the hard drive but when I try to import them via CO11 a box appears stating - En error occurred whilst importing image files. Check events log for details.
    Any ideas?

Which version of OSX are you running?

Something is not permitting Capture One to open the image files. Probabaly the SW that was just installed has set itself as the default owner, and it may have locked thee files or changed permissions.

Make sure P/S Elements is no longer running. Reboot to be sure.

Check the permissions of the image files and make sure that your userid has read-write permisssion.

Right click an image file and select Get Info. Check that the file is not locked. Trty setting the default application to Preview (that is what it should be)

If that doesn'yt work, do a safe boot of your Mac - it resets a whole lot of SW settings.

Shut down the Mac, and start OSX again. Hold down the shift key while starting OSX. Don't release the shift key until the Apple Logo disappears (quite a long time). The screen refresh will be kind of stripey, and the screen shows "safe boot" in small red letters. Sign into your OSX account, maybe open Finder and browse a round a bit.

    Now reboot the machine normally.

    Hi Eric
    Thanks for your reply.
The Mac is on Catalina 10.15.1 which was loaded earlier in the week and worked fine.
I've got as far as about to do a safe reboot - all instructions before that came out OK. Before I do, I have a probably stupid question - what's SW?

I think he used SW as an abbreviation for "software".

Ian's right - I meant "The software that was just installed .. "

Let us know how it goes after the Safe Boot ...

Thanks for the replies. I couldn't find anything causing the issue. My guess is that as Eric said something in the P/S trial download is locking the image files but I couldn't find it but I also think (ignorantly) that Catalina has something to do with it.
I decided to wipe the hard drive and reinstate a Time Machine backup that had Mojave as the OSX.
What did I learn (apart from what I already knew that CO Forum members are always helpful) - well i'm never going to update unless something breaks first. Let sleeping dogs lie!!
    Thanks again.

Personally I never upgrade OSX / MacOS until it has reached the xx.3 level. Which means never before New Year. Usually around Easter sometime.

About a month ago I finally upgraded from 10.12.6 to 10.14.6. Bit late on that one but everything was remarkably stable. 😊

Similarly with Capture One I ususally try to avoid the .0.0 version, usually the first and second sets of bug fixes are .0.1 and .0.2

Even though I'm testing the beta version of CO20, and have prepurchased CO20, I probably won't fully rely on it until 13.0.3 or 20.0.3 (however they decide to number it)
