Best way to tune color between NEF/TIFF for an ICC?
I thought I should try to create a set of ICC profiles from my Nikons and especially some picture profiles I use most and have tweaked personally but also try to simulate the amazing color the D2X Mode series of Nikon profiles.
I have controlled light, lastolite white for manual WB and take some shots of a colorchecker passport.
Open the NEF in Capture NX-D, disable lens corrections, vignetting etc but I keep the specific picture control settings and export them as 16 bit TIFF.
Now I import both the tiff and the nef into CO and begin the work to adjust the CO interpretation of the NEF comparing it against the Nikon produced TIFF.
This would create a decent ICC profile for my camera and picture control/color mode of my choosing, right?
Even though I have a decent amount of years working with colour tuning and photos, I'm not experienced at all in CO.
It's quite tricky I must admit.
Anyway, is there a specific order I should do the fine tuning in?
Some Best practice guides or tips?
Should i use the color editor and fine tune each patch, how narrow or wide should I set the range?
Most of the guides regarding ICC creation have been focused on "tune it as you like and then save the ICC" kind which is not really what I'm after.
