Follow-up Questions - Archiving Raw Edits

I have read several posts about archiving Raw edits (.c1w) and would appreciate assistance with a few follow-up questions:

Am I correct in understanding that there is a .c1w for each Raw file I have edited, and that I should therefore highlight all of the images in a directory before doing Workflow / Selected Capture Settings / Save to Archive?

And when I "Save to Archive, is this only a snapshot, or from then forward will it save further edits for this directory in the location I specified when I did the "Save to Archive"?

Ultimately, what I am wanting to do is save the C1 edits for each respective image directory on my computer, along with the Raw files in each respective directory . My objective is to archive a directory of images to DVD or other media, along with archiving the edits I have made to those images, should I ever have to restore at a later date.

    I would like to echo dleepenn's recommendation of an option to have C1 put the .c1w files inside the same folder as it's Raw files.

    It would be great to have a functionality similar to Photoshop. They put .XMP files in the same respective directories as the Raw files. This way, if a Raw file is edited in C:/Photos/2007Jun02 , the edits (.XMP files) are automatically stored in this same directory by default without having to "Save to Archive". The next directory of images, when edited, will be the default location where its edits are saved, and so on. No need to ever change anything in preferences or "Save to Archive" on a directory-by-directory basis.
