Capture one 4 with Windows 7
I have just installed Win 7 (rc1) 32 bit on my laptop,(2.2ghz processer 2 gig ram, fast hd) it takes 10-12 seconds for a JPEG to load to the browser, with 20 images it takes 3-4 minutes to load, another 30 seconds for the image to appear in the viewer. Is it a Win 7 and C1 issue? Using C1 v 4.8.
Coming from Win XP this is way slow. XP loaded 20 JPEG images in less than 20 seconds.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Thx.

Yes I'm experiencing this too. C1 is extremely sluggish and it gets even worse the more images you throw at it.
If you look in Task Manager, Capture One is consuming 100% processor time. I initially encountered this when I
tried browsing a folder that had 1.5 gigs of files in it. I thought it was just being slow and I left it to do it's thing
overnight. The next morning it was still stuck processing and hadn't gotten any further. I had to kill the process
from the task manager.0 -
Capture One has not yet been released with Windows 7 support or optimization. 0 -
Just sharing my experience so far:
Installed a test computer for testing with Win 7 RC (64 bit): Intel Q6700/2,66GHz, 8G ram, 300G system drive + 3x300G drives in a RAID 5, GeForce GTS 250 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Tested Capture One Pro 4.8.1 with several network directories (both Canon 1Ds mIII raw files and C1 settings and previews are on my server) and all seemed to work very fast, faster than with my Win XP sp3, dual core, 4G ram, etc, "production"-machine.0 -
For all of you who are anxiously anticipating the arrival of Windows 7, you can mark the following days in your agenda.
MS is expected to announce RTM or ready-state for Win7 this week (before end of July). From 6-7 August onwards developers, IT specialist and large accounts can download the software. From 22 October 2009 it will be available in the shops and pre-installed on new systems.
I expect Phase One will belong to the developers community, being able to work with the final release within a few weeks at its latest. A Win7 supporting version of CO 4.x might be available when the new OS hits the streets in October 2009. Win7 support might not yet include tethered support. Tethering DSLRs can be dependent on SDK updates from Canon and Nikon. My estimation.
Note: RTM = release to manufacturing0 -
For reference, I've got my P30 working tethered with the 32-bit version of Windows 7 - see my article in the P Series Backs section.

When would be knowing when the upgrade with Windows 7 support and optimization can be expected? I will be upgrading to Windows 7 on my field laptop in early December (I am waiting to make sure there will be no major issue before installing).
Thanks!0 -

Hi, I expect Phase One will come with a statement, update or both after the official release of 22 Oct 09 as most software manufacturers do. Microsoft just released their first application compatibility patch which might affect the end result (in a positive way). In general do not expect major issues anyway since Win7 is an optimization release over Vista only, no major changes in the new release. A few users are already working with the final Win7 release with satisfaction.
Main issue I foresee is that the increasing popularity of the x64 release might affect tethering support which will lag behind. Again, more news after the Win7 release.0 -

Microsoft have completely rewritten the Firewire stack for Win7 so a lot of drivers will have to be revisited - see my post elsewhere on the subject. The good news is that this will hopefully encourage some manufacturers to sort out the 64-bit drivers while they are tweaking the 32-bit ones? 🙄

Thanks Andy for your reply,
Ironically FireWire is the only thing not running properly on my new machine I did setup yesterday with Win7 x64 (RTM code). I am talking about safely removing a CF card reader. Have to investigate.0 -
Just another experience Windows 7 experience FWIW:
Running Windows 7 RTM x64 w/8GB RAM and Intel Q9400 Quad Core CPU with C1Pro 4.8.3. Clean install, no upgrade.
Installed C1Pro 4 with no problems whatsoever. Runs perfectly and absolutely FLIES when building thumbs and processing files. Light years better than running on Vista x86.
Needless to say I'm ecstatic w/W7 and C1 😁0 -
Same with me - using WIN 7 32-Bit with C1 - excelent combination, using USB to get my files from the cards to hard disk - no problems at all. 0 -
Looking forward to Windows 7 64 and C1.
I have tried the RC version of W7 and was very impressed, ran rings around the vista 64 installation. My test was on a amd x2 5200 with 6gb.
I hope I can get a copy W7 soon to replace this faulty vista 64 installation, keeps loosing my C1 Pro features, very frustrating.

Gents,
Did got some troubles with an RTM version of W7.
There is compatibility patch available as MS site.
It solved a lot of things for me (check one of my post).

Windows 7 should be in the shops by now.0 -
No problems here with Capture One 4.8.3 on Windows 7 64-bit RTM on two different laptops. 0 -
On order, paid for, just waiting for delivery to me, some this week according to the shop.
Then the fun starts backing up large disks, uninstalling software and finding licences.

Hi,
I am running RTM version of Windows 7, 64 bit, 8Gigs of memory and Intel Quadcore Q9550. The latest phase one software version of capture one is installed.
My problems are with the software being veeery veeery slow at times. I have installed all the application compatibility patches from microsoft, no help there.
It seems to be hogging a lot of CPU power, also when opening a new folder with images, the thumbnails take about 5-10 sek each (photos taken with Canon 1D mkIII). When I make changes to the images, it again starts the slow mode and I just have to leave the work there.
To me, this software is now totally non-usable. I just bought it after working in my previous company with 3.X version - only to notice that the program has major problems with W7. I would like to hear from P1 about the windows 7 support: the developer access for W7 has been there for a long time, I'd like to see some compatibility.
I have tested running it with various compatibility modes etc, no help. With XP sp3 compatibility, I can even choose option from exposure etc, while running without any such options I cant do basically anything but just watch the images. I cant use most of the option buttons/sliders/whatnot in exposure, color, composition etc.
Hoping to see some P1 information soon. If you are buying the software and intend to use it with W7, just a small warning, it might not work. Some people here seem to be running it without problems, to me, it is pretty much unusable.

I'm hoping that Phase One will realise that most professional users of C1 will be running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 and support it properly, including tethered operation. I know that they're dependant on Canon, Nikon and other manufacturers for 64-bit dSLR drivers, but there's no excuse for a lack of 64-bit support for Phase One backs.

Capture One 5 will be supported in Windows 7 and includes the long awaited 64-bit drivers. 0 -
