New Bug in MP 1.5: no rendering of JPG-Previews and thumbs
Hi folks,
I tested the new MP 1.5 on two different Boxes and recognized a new Bug (along with old ones which still show up, but that's another cup of tea):
On Win 7 64bit SP1 (Home Premium) MP 1.5 doesn't render Thumbnails and Previews of JPG-Files anymore. It works fine with RAW (Nikon NEF and Fuji RAF). On the Thumbnail-Tab only symbols of JPGs show up, switching to the "Media"-Tab brings up an error message: "couldn't find an importer for JPEG-Files / error -2008" or something like this, can't remember the exact wording. I used "WIC" for media rendering, switching to "PhaseOne" solves the problem, but is dirt slow.
On Win 8.1 both the WIC- and PO-rendering method works fine, but quitting the software in general needs to kill it via the task manager.
On both machines I have the newest packages of Quicktime and FastPictureViewer Codec Pack installed.
So - yes, the bug hunt goes on. On Win 7, I reverted back to MP 1.4.2. On Win 8.1, I'll give it a spin a few days more.
I read of similar experiences with failed JPG-rendering of other users on the forum - is a solution in sight? I'm a working pro photographer and journalist, so I don't have to much time to fiddle around with a buggy software.
Greetings
Kay

Hello,
I have the same problem.
I am increasingly convinced that there is an incompatibility between MediaPro 1.5 and fastpicture wiever.
I have 4 machines PC windows 7 64 bit, one does not fastpicture and everything works perfectly has with MediaPro 1.5.
Today I uninstalled fastpicture and MediaPro 1.4.5 on another machine. then I reinstalled MediaPro 1.5, jpeg were read perfectly, everything is fine.
Of the two other machines I solved the problem by rebuilding my user sessions. But on one of those machines that worked well last week, I installed a recent version of fastpicture and mediapro 1.5 no longer reads jpeg. I'm going in the day uninstall fastpicture to see if I recover the functionality of MediaPro 1.5.
But the track becomes clearer.0 -
Oh yes, thanks a lot for your feedback, Blaya.
I'm able to reproduce exactly what you did on one of my two Win7-PCs. Funny enough, the new MP1.5 works fine with FastPictureViewer Codec Pack on Win8.1, no problems with jpeg-rendering at all.
Well, i decided against MP1.5 and keep MP1.4.2 and the Codec Pack on Win7, hoping, that the PhaseOne-Engineers will address this issue soon.
Greetings and many thanks again

Hi There,
I was looking for a fast image viewer for sorting thousands of RAW or Jpeg images on my server. Looking for a first class quality solution next to Capture One or DX10Pro
Sometimes I start misunderstanding software development firms I guess. I installed the trial of this I media software (on a win 7 64bit PC) and imported the folders and subfolders on my server. However after several attempts no thumbnail images at all just icons. After reading this post on the forum I decided to forget it quickly. Problems enough but no support.
I installed the freeware Faststone Viewer and it works flawlessly. Printing for quick use, transferring, managing it's all there for no costs at all.
At such moments I don't understand software developers like Phase One to deliver software that costs a lot for its possibilities and can't even offer that in a flawless easy way. Shame.0 -
Think I have the same bug for some images in certain folders. (W7 64 with MP 1.5)
JPG thumbnails and their media tabs are blank but light table shows the image. Rebuilding does not do anything. Importing into new catalog did not change this.
Rendering engine is set to PhaseOne but I assume this only applies to raw. Is that right?0
