C1 7.2.3 crashes on Import

    Jeff,

Have you tried a new catalog? On the basis of your comment about "own folders" (a session?) that may not help at all but it's worth trying to see what happens.

Also, what happens if you copy off the card onto disk and then import to the catalog/session?

With any information from those suggestions noted I then suggest you create a Support Case so the support team can seek to work out what is going on as reported in the log file.

Clearly this is not the normal situation or there would be uproar so it suggests there is some aspect or aspects of things on your machine that are not working well together for some reason yet to be identified.

    HTH.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried loading the NEF files into a folder and then importing into C1 from that folder. That works perfectly. The problem appears to be when C1 is reading from the card and moving the files to a folder.

I've raised a support case. Hopefully, that will get it fixed.

If anyone is experiencing this error, we would really appreciate a System Profile of your Mac.
We're finding that this only occurs on some Hardware Builds and the 10.9.4 OS.
The sooner we can define the hardware builds that behave different with the 10.9.4 OS, the sooner we can look into building a workaround to Apples change in Capture One.

Drew, happy to oblige but how do I attach a file?

Create a Support Case. Attach documents to the Support Case.

Hi there, I am also experiencing C1 not responding when upon opening the application. I have raised my support case last night (30/7/14). My hardware and OS is included.

    OS X 10.9.4 Macbook 15" Mid 2010, 8GB RAM.

Have tried creating a new catalog in a new different drives, uninstalling and re-installing application etc. Would welcome any new suggestions. Many thanks, Rajesh.

Sorry Rajesh, we have no support case from you at this account ☹️

I apologise Drew. I have done so correctly now. My case number is :147964. I have attached 3 screenshots as visual aids.

    Kind regards,
    Rajesh

I am experiencing the same problem (crash during import). I opened support case #147965 and attached a system profile of my iMac as requested.

Just wanted to update the thread and state C1 7.2.3 is now fully working for me. I still for the life of me do not know why its working now. I did download a trail version of C1 7.2.2 and then re-opened 7.2.3 just to see if it worked - and it did.

But I don't know if this necessarily had the desired effect.

It's still not working for me. In addition, I have discovered that exporting multiple files also causes a crash. Going back to 7.2.2 is problematic, as files imported with 7.2.3 don't show up. The EXIF data is there but no image.

I'm having the same problem. How do I back date to 7.2.2?

I'm getting same problem on my Mac Pro running latest version of mavericks. Also spoke with two others who are having same problem. Like me, they have given up until there's an updated patch and we're all using Lightroom. ☹️

I am using 7.2.2 while waiting for a resolution. This is not anywhere bad enough to send me off to LR.

This is happening to me too. I am running a trial and alternating between Pro and Express. So far I have been importing RAW files which have previously been imported into Aperture but my method is to store images in a Finder location and reference them from whatever application I am using. All the imports I have done so far have caused C1 to crash. If I try variations on the import settings or if I use the different trial versions this makes no difference. However, if I persist and keep trying, eventually it does import, though three or four re-starts of a trial version is tedious and is probably not good for sales :0]

Each crash has invited me to report and I have reported most but not all of them, so you should have the information you need to examine my cases. One detail which may be relevant is that my images are stored on a separate (internal) drive to the boot SSD drive on my Mac Pro. These are properly maintained and permissions are checked and reset each time I back up. If there is a fix in the offing I would be very pleased to hear it.

    Cheers, Drew

Have you reported an official Support Case through the Support Portal each time or just sent of the generic and somewhat anonymous "Report error" type screen that are often offered by most applications?

    Hi.

The dialogue which pops up after each crash and seems to suggest that a report with a full crash log is being sent to you. I assumed it would not be there if it did not do anything. Certainly it is not the generic reporting which most Mac OS applications put up. Can you not access this?

BTW I have just bought a copy so I can revert to a previous version but, rather worryingly, there is a suggestion that the previous version cannot see the images imported in the current version.

Also, I was just using the control key menu in the Folder section, asking for the items to be listed in date order and it it crashed then too.

    Cheers

    Drew

CO7 comes with its own crash reporter. The reports includes all the necessary information for examining the crash. Each report is closely researched by Phase One and helps them to debug.

Note sure where this suggestion comes from. From CO 7.2.3 you can go back to 7.2.2/7.2.1/7.2 without problems.

I like to encourage you to open a support case and have Phase One staff look into it.

Hi Paul. I have kicked off a support report and it has the reference 148555. Let me know if you need more information.

    Drew

P.S. Small point but even though I select the "Automatically log me in" box, every time I return to the Forum following an emailed link to a response I have to log in (and re tick the box).

Hi Drew, as I am a user as you, I do not have access to support tickets. Support will get back to you.

The forum auto login is temporary disabled. Phase One is aware of the issue. Even *they* have to login over and over again, as we all do. 😂

I know where it comes from, I reported it in an dearlier post. If you go back to 7.2.2, the thumbnail disappears. You still have EXIF data but no thumbnail, just a black frame. I supposed that I could have got it sorted but I didn't bother

Hi. I have installed 7.2.2 and it seems to be working fine but I will report after I have tested it a bit more. Cheers Drew (R)
