How to move many, many files?
Hello:
I have around 65,000 photo files in one location (with many, many folders and subfolders) and now I want to move all of them to another location. I thought of using "Transfer to Folder" and then "Move Files" from the thumbnails' context menu, however, this would eliminate the existing folder and subfolder structure, which I would like to preserve.
Does anyone have a good suggestion, how to do this with as little effort and risk as possible?
Thanks,
Hal

Sorry, "Reset Folder Path" is probably what I should be using. Does anyone have (good) experience with this feature when applied to a large folder structure with many files? I am just a little anxious that something goes wrong.
Thanks,

I think you can accomplish this with these three steps:
1. Manually copy the folders to the new location (retaining the structure; ideally you should have a single parent folder)
2. In your catalog file, use Reset Folder Path
3. Rebuild Items
I suppose you could use EM's Transfer/Move/Copy functions to move them (step 1), but I just found it easier do that step in my operating system (Mac Finder). Maybe a more expert user could comment.
In my older thread "Reset Folder Path" didn't stick I described a situation similar to yours, but I forgot step 3. Another commenter on that thread had some ideas that might be useful too.0
