Help...Sharping Question

I'm New to C1PRO3.7.7. Is there a way to sharpen my incoming RAW images to a default setting before going to the Focus screen and doing it manually?.

    Yes, in Preferences, Processing, Defaults tab.

    Thanks for the reply Paul. The Thing is I have set those Defaults tabs but they
    don't sharpen my incoming images. Those same settings show up in my "Focus" tab and will sharpen then. How do I get them to be sharpened when importing.

    I'm shooting with Nikon D200, using C1Pro 3.7.7

    I think I do not understand what you try to achieve. What do you mean by 'sharpening when importing'? Do you like to see the sharpening in the preview?
    The raw files itself will not be sharpened. Sharpening and all other adjustments are applied during processing to JPEG or TIFF.

    Thanks for helping with this..

    What I need is my raw files to be sharpened when I import them to a degree. I sit down with my clients and the images are so pixely when I zoom in on faces (they look great with the focus tool) so I want to see can I import them with some sharping then perhaps add a little more later.

    As Paul indicated sharpening is applied when the shots are processed, and if you want to preview that effect you need to view in the focus window. You can configure that to your liking if you haven't already discovered that. It sounds like you're zooming in on the quick screen preview instead.

    Perhaps a little background on how sharpening works in the preview helps you too.

    As you discovered, the focus tool and window is the best place to view sharpening precisely. The preview shows sharpening as well (you can disable this for speed) but less accurate.

    What your problem is however is pixelation in the preview. That has nothing to do with sharpening. The preview resolution is most of the time 25% of the raw resolution (can be 50 or 12.5% as well). If you zoom in to your preview beyond 100% preview resolution, it becomes pixelated until you zoom in at 100% RAW resolution (400% preview resolution in my example). The image is rendered (takes some time) and non-pixelated again and sharpening is rather accurate again.

    The problem is that a low resolution preview makes corrections appear fast, but is does not allow for detailed evaluation. CO4 works faster in this respect through smarter algorithms but has more or less the same kind of limitations. It is generic to raw converters' nature.
