Long start-up time of CO10, Solved
I want to share my solution to the issue of long start-up time of CO 10.0.2 Pro(for Sony) running on Windows 7.
Hope it can help someone with this problem.
It took about 1 1/2 minutes to start CO 10.
No difference if the last sessions contains pictures or it was emty!
It has been like this since the middle of version 8 updates ( i do not remember exactly when it started)
I did a cleanup of Windows and did also a CLEAN reinstall of Capture One 10, but the result was the same!
To see what happened when CO 10 started, I ran a program to monitor processes at the start of CO 10.
It showed a loop of the read / write data from some color profiles to the Windows registry.
It lasted for about 1 minute 25sekunder!
To make a long story short, it led me to check the settings in the Windows Color Management.
And found that it was a strange thing there.
In Windows Color Management -> Advanced tab -> Device Profile: was set into a "Virtual ICC profile" !!
I changed it back to the standard sRGB profile.
Finished color management and started CO 10..
Now, it took 8 to 10 seconds until the menus displayed in CO 10 and I could start working with images!
This is also reported to PO support team

While I'm noticing also sometimes extended start up times I'm not sure whether the colour profile thing in your case has major influence.
What I see is that the cosessiondb file is huge with almost 1.6GB in my case actually. I'd suppose that reading this file takes its toll.
It seems to me that start up time is getting faster when something changed in the physcially connected devices, i.e. when I'm working exceptionally on files stored on an external HD and when the next programm start is w/o that device connected so start is back from default HD.0 -
As I said, this is a specific setting in Windows Color Management as for some reason delays the startup of CO 10.
And I can reproduce the problem by changing the ICC setting in Windows back to the virtual profile.
No other program I have, react in this way as Capture One does.
Note that this delay has nothing to do with either the Catalog or Sessions databases (empty or not).

I had the same issue with C1Pro 10.0.2 on Windows 10, and now it has been solved!
Thank you very much for your sharing!0 -

I'm glad to hear that!

I did a quick test on the new release of Capture One 10.1 and this issue seems to be fixed now.
Startup time is about 8 sec, regardless of which Device Profile I select in Windows.
Thanks Phase One Team!
