export variant or process?

sorry if this has been asked before..can someone tell me if the resulting JPG file is the same whether you use file>export>variant vs process.
trying to understand the difference between the two ...export variant or process?

  If your settings are the same (for instance JPG quality slider, etc) then the files should be identical. Using process recipes gives you much more flexibility. For instance, if I use Export to create a 100% sized, 85% quality JPG, and then the next thing I do is to produce a 1600px wide, 70% quality JPG (to a different location) for my website, I have to change all those features and perhaps more every tie. But if I set up separate process recipes, then all I have to do is select the appropriate recipe, and if I want I could even get Capture One to create a full size JPG for printing, and a smaller version for my website at the same time.
