Sony a7iii RAW support

Phase One does not like to comment on current development/unreleased features, but if you do some research you'll find that most major cameras have become supported within 3 months of the official release date.

Since Sony is a sort of partner, that could be sooner, but no one knows.

For the moment you could try editing the EXIF data; camera model, to an A7II or A7RIII and see if that works ok. Another option is to convert to DNG, but I strongly advise against modifying the original files in either case (have a backup of the raw files).

In regard of tethered shooting, you'll have to wait.

    Cheers

just use sony image edge remote (wich is faster and more stable tethered than c1 anyway in my experience ) and setup a hot folder. not perfect because their is a bug p1 ignores which prevents that the last c1 image setting (maybe it is a Mac issue only and you have luck ) is applied to the incoming images but it works till they mercifully add full support.

    Thank you!
    3 months would be sad.
Many say support should come with April 10 as it's the international release date for the camera.

I guess I can't hope for earlier than that. I have quiet an important shot coming up this Saturday which I have to use jpegs in this case.

If you can live without tethered shooting for the time being I discovered that ON1 Perfect Photo RAW 2017 and 2018 version both read the RAW file without a hitch. This way I can browse, organise and edit my RAW files and prep them for photoshop.

Does the Sony Software not provide enough for you to cover your needs for now?

Or, as an alternative, can you not use your previous equipment for this important shoot rather than something very new to you?

There isn't Sony software - it's Capture One for Sony!

Well, there is a path to JPG or TIFF, for example, that might suffice for an important shoot on a temporary basis.

Once a TIFF exists work could continue in C1.

i have a similar problem, i can't even open Raw files made with my new sony alpha 7 III. Capture one always says that the folder is empty (no thetered shoot, i just copied the files from the camera to a folder on my pc). Does opening Raws work for you?

No, can´t even open it in Photoshop which obviously has to do with the non existing RAW support. I think I´ll just wait and hope they´ll bring RAW support quickly. Also checked directly with Phaseone and they said they can´t say anything official, only that they´re working on it and it will be out soon.

It is quite usual for it to take a short time to evaluate and test for full compatibility and best interpretation when a new camera body is launched, especially if a new sensor is involved.

Phase One do their testing in house with a production body so things have to fit in with release dates, availability and several other influencing factors.

As Angelo87 has pointed out previously the International release date for the camera is a few more days away and that might suggest that one could expect people to have that in mind.

    Hi All,

New Capture One (Sony) user (seriously at least…). And I haven’t tried the program with my A7iii files (only have the camera for a few days….), but it works with my A77V files……
I know this is an older thread, but I haven’t seen a solution, so here are my $0.02…..:
Could it be that you are shooting in Compressed Raw in the camera? I noticed that some software and apps have problems reading the compressed ARW files, it seems.
That is the only thing I can think of currently.

    Eric.

It is likely that the original post was prior to the release of version 11.1.0, which introduced support for the A7 mk 3.

This is not an issue anymore since C1´s update! Thanks for your answers.
