Crashing when applying a crop
Hello folks,
I frequently have an issue when applying a crop in the latest version of C1. Now C1 10 has often crashed since I upgraded, I get stuck on the beachball before I have to force quit. Doesn't happen all the time, but happens enough for me to be wary when applying a crop, and normally a re-start solves the issue.
This evening has been torture - over the last hour I'm unable to get beyond a crop on two images before it crashes. I've done several system re-starts to no avail - it's continually crashing when applying a crop. If anyone has any advice on how to fix this I'll be very grateful. Sent a report to Phase One, very frustrated this evening!
Best,
David

Session or Catalogue?
Either way, have you checked for possible problems by running a verify?
Also clearing any cache.

Thanks for the quick reply Grant. It's a catalogue, and please advise how I verify and clear the cache.
Thanks again,

David,
The should be a verify option in the menu.
I'm a Windows user and it's under the "File" menu. I think it's the same for Mac although for technical reasons there are a handful of differences between the versions for different operating systems.
I can't advise about clear cache on a Mac (basically temp files or things that are trying to offer performance improvements by storing previously run routines in case that might be re-used.)
Hopefully a Mac person will be along shortly to advise based on their experiences. Alternatively try a search but you may fidn a lot of info that is not entirely useful unless you pin down a good way to search the text.
Run verify first though.

As Grant says, you will find the "Verify Catalog or Session" under the "File" menu. Obviously the catalogue must be closed in order to verify it.
The only cache folder I have found for C1 is ~/Library/Caches/com.phaseone.captureone10
It should be safe to just delete this folder then start C1 again0 -
Thanks again Grant, and to you too Adrian - will try this out when I'm back at base and let you know how I got on.
Best wishes,

David,
If neither of those suggestions helps you create a Support Case and have the C! Support Team help you to investigate. (I am assuming when you wrote "Sent a report" you meant a Crash report. They are generic and useful for bulk analysis of general trends by the developer but if you need specific supported analysis then a Support Case is the way to go.)
The Log files might provide some clues but need knowledgeable interpretation.
You might also have something odd going on i the crop definitions.
Does the problem arise with any crop or only in certain situations?

Thanks again guys - I've now opened a Support Case with Phase One and hopefully they can get something from the Log Files. The problem now appears to happen with every crop of a RAW file, I even made a new variant but still the same result, and there's no crashes when i try to make any other adjustments. It's standard 3x2 crops I'm trying
Thanks again for the assistance, it's greatly appreciated.
Best wishes,

A specific RAW file or any RAW file?
FWIW some time back - V6 or V7 - and using sessions I had a problem with one session were it would crash randomly several images apart as seen in the browser which was likely to have been in in file name order.
I could not work out what was happening until about half way through the edit batch process and rather randomly at the time I noticed a badly formed thumbnail and preview.
Recreating the preview gave the same result.
The edit file code looked a bit odd so I deleted the whoel thing and re0instated the RAW from back up and re-edited after which all was well.
I think that the internal file associations in the session database had some damaged cross references in the Windows (in my case) file system and sometimes they caused confusion. Perhaps you have something similar happen in your catalog?
It was so obscure that I doubt a verify program would be guaranteed to catch it.
I have nbno idea where that problem originated. It has never happened again.
Good luck with the investigation.
