catalog: all files have gone OFFLINE!!!!

after having lots of problems to import the 17699 photos, (had to upgrade memory from 6GB to 2Gb and imported 2000 by 2000) I achieved to work 'somehow' with catalog feature, but have the next problems:
@ opening the catalog takes lots of time, as it starts counting the images from scratch
@ and now all the images appear to be offline!!!! they belong to a disk which is online (with a green light), question mark is on ALL the images.
any help?

did you solve this. I got the same problem today even though my external disc is fully online....

SOLVED....
I had the main folder renamed, so it was not locating the files.
I CLICKED RIGHT BUTTON and selected the LOCATE option and everything is working so far OK.0
