Do I understand you correctly that after a reinstallation you can use the program once?
Have you tried to run the program again after a reboot?
Have you used a previous version of CO6 successfully, or are you a new user of used a previous version (5.x)?
Did you uninstall the previous version before installing 6.1.1?

Paul - answers to your questions below -

    1. Do I understand you correctly that after a reinstallation you can use the program once?
Correct - only by ticking the start program now box from the installation dialogue screen.
    2. Have you tried to run the program again after a reboot?
    Yes, same result.
    3. Have you used a previous version of CO6 successfully, or are you a new user of used a previous version (5.x)?
Successful user of 6.1, and yes I will return to using that if the answer below does not work.
    4. Did you uninstall the previous version before installing 6.1.1?
No, I applied the new installation over 6.1. I have not tried a clean install, and will try that next.

....I think this is abnormal based on my experience with 3 installs under Win 7 64 bit...for the record, can you report the file you downloaded? i.e. 64 or 32 bit....and wether your version of Win 7 is current AFA Windows Updates....

...probably all good either way, but might be an issue...Paul E is the user expert here, and any germane information you give him is helpful...

I reinstalled version 6.1.1 as a clean install (removed previous version), and same behaviour (after re-boot).

I then went back to a 6.1 install (clean again), and this works as expected. One further bit of behaviour I should report is that when trying to run 6.1.1, the splash logo only lasts a second or so, whereas for 6.1 it stays visible until the full Capture One screen appears.

John- the file is Capture One6.1.1-64bit.exe, set to run under administrator. Windows is 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and all updates loaded - I don't run Live Essentials, but everything else is std. Last significant update was on the 15th, with a Silverlight update, which could be significant (last update before I uploaded/ran 6.1.1).

Going to run a "House scan" to check for malware next.

wow! I can confirm everything BUT Silverlight is current on my Win7 64 installs...I have not installed Silverlight AFAIK. I would start a support case as it might be a .NET issue...I would think PhaseOne would want input on conflicts if that's the issue...

I suggest you open a case with Phase One support. This is out-of-band behavior for 6.1.1 and probably an issue for fixing in the next release. On the other side, a still unknown issue with your system might interfere with a change in 6.1.1. In other words, countless 6.1.1/64bit installation on Win7 x64 run fine (otherwise we would have been flooded here with posts) but yours obviously not, but 6.1 does. Go figure.

    General remarks:
    1) CO6 should run fine with standard user (non-administrative) privileges.
    2) You could do a clean install, that is not only an uninstall-install sequence, but a clean up of CO supporting files in your user profile folders. Details can be found here:
    http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageID=1
    3) I don't expect your Silverlight update might be of an issue here; CO6 does not use Silverlight, which is a browser plug-in.

    Paul,

I followed the procedure in your notes for a clean/clean install. Did this a couple of times after checking and finding preference files for version 4 and 5, and backups of same. I think a clean install was at last proved when I got a "welcome..." screen splash, after clicking the "launch..." check box. But similar behaviour in trying to re-run after closing that initial run of the program. Re-booted, and ran again, this time producing a crash report, which I have sent in.

The gist is it can't find an icc profile. Can't see how 6.1 succeeded where 6.1.1 can't...

I await the response to the crash report. You are of course correct in that there does not appear to be any other reports of this problem. I use basICColor and xrite eyeone for calibration, and will now look at how these are being loaded.

So I have now managed to get 6.1.1 to open without a crash. I did two thing simultaneously, so not sure which was the actual fix -

    1. Gave write permissions to a folder that Co6 was trying to open under users/user/AppData/local/temp (from one of my crash reports).

    2. Update ATI catalyst software to version 11.2 (recent update).

It is a bit slow loading, but it gets there. Plus it works with OpenCL and AMD Overdrive enabled (ATI 5770 card).

    I had this with 6.1 Pro and W7 64bit.

Run CaptureOne as an administrator, just the once was enough for me. This seems to give it the rights to update what it needs to update. It ran fine after that without the need to run as administrator.
