Filter By File Status
How do I filter by File Status. I want to select all offline files so that I can remove them from the catalog.

I was going to answer "I'm sure you can do this with a Smart Album", but then I decided to double check and it seems in fact that you can't filter a Smart Album by whether a file is referenced or not. This should indeed be possible, so let's hope for this added feature soon!

This is an interesting question. And as far as I can tell now, there is no search criteria for a Smart Album to select either referenced or fully managed as previous posters already confirmed.
I have a workaround though, which might help in case you like to put ALL referenced images in a Smart Album. The workaround is based on the fact that you can easily select all fully managed images (i.e. stored inside the Catalog folder). Next, you should make them selectable by a rating, color tag or keyword (like: internal) or other item that can be used in a search. Last, you reverse the search in a Smart Album.
Workaround steps:
- select the Catalog folder item in the Folders section
- select all images and give them a distinct searchable feature (rating, tag, keyword)
- make a Smart Album and define the search that the images does NOT contain the distinct feature
The last step will exclude the fully managed images, only showing the referenced images.0 -
All my files are referenced. Some just don't exist anymore. 0 -

In other words, there is still a reference in the catalog, but the file is not there on the disk/Finder? You should look for offline files. Hmm, have no workaround for that. 😉
A good one for a feature request too.0
