I have basically the same computer set up as you...but fortunately mine is working. No crash yet, but I must say I have only been testing it for an hour or so.
Seems to be much faster at importing.

You may need to open a support case also.

I just installed Media Pro 1.1 and have the same problem with crashes. I can't use the software at all. I am going back to my old copy Expression which always works perfectly.

    Hi,

I've a Mac pro and Media Pro crash... But only when I open a picture modified with C1. I can import a simply jpeg and Switch to Media tab without Media Pro crash.

    I've C1 V6.3.1.

I purchased and installed Media Pro yesterday. Like you I am finding the software surprisingly unstable.

I use EM2 in my workflow to catalogue all my comercial and editorial picture sets and generate web galleries for clients. In migrating to MP my settings etc. including customised settings for the web galleries imported from EM2 automatically which is great.

However, MP crashed three times in the space of a couple of hours while I was updating image captions, with the work done since the last save being lost. The last crash, when MP quit without warning turned the the monitor magenta!

One major irritation with EM2, which was also a problem with iView and is still a problem with MP is that after a crash, or for no explicable reason a message will come up when opening a catalogue file saying that the file is already in use and can only be saved as a 'save as...' in order to continue working on that catalogue. This can generate multiple copies of the same catalogue. This should be a basic fix and I'm surprised it has not been addressed.

The frequent crashing, with a constant fear that all the work done since the last save will be lost, means that I may have to stick with EM2. I have set the auto-save to 5 mins but even that may be too long! Lightroom, if it crashes, saves everything up to the point when the crash occurs. If MP could do this too at least work done since the last save would not be lost and one would have more confidence in the software.

Frankly, I'm disappointed that Phase One, with its high reputation for quality products could let the side down by releasing such a buggy piece of software. Come on guys - get it right!

I'm a windows user, but I'm sure that there are some similarities.
I would recommend trying the following.
Open up MP - and do nothing for a minute or two.
Open up the monitor subwindow (lower right on my Win version) and monitor that.
Then open up the action log. I always monitor both.

Then open up a folder in thumbnails, and click on the media view - doing nothing else.

Basically, I have found that if I ask MP to something (like opening a media view) while it is doing something else (like saving the catalog or doing a complex find) it will crash.

    Good luck

Hmm... my wife does have also an iMac.
MP1.1 is working a bit better but not stable.
She can open the picture in the media view but short time later (2-4 minutes), MP1.1 crashed.
Testet with picture which was stay on Ethernet hard disk and picture on intern hard disk crash crash crash.
After crash, the mousearrow changes the shape to a color square so long till to confirm the error message.
    No idea what's this about!

    @AndiGandi,

The picture is a Raw or an other format ? If it's a Raw, it's modified with C1 ? The media rendering is to Apple or Phase One ?

I've exactly the same problem, but only with the files who are modified with C1.

For information, Mac Os is installed to à SSD.

If anyone is consistently having crash issues, creating a support case and providing Crash Reports + System Profiles is suggested.

    Drew,

I sent many report to PO 😉

    Ole is also aware.

Another case of crashing here. I wish SO much I'd never changed to Media Pro - even EM2 was better than this.

Count me as another victim of 1.1. I've been using iView MediaPro for years, bought 1.01 this year and generally liked it other than the black theme. But 1.1 just doesn't work. Tried an old time Mac trick of deleting preferences but didn't help. I've submitted multiple reports after crashes but finally deleted it and went back to 1.01, which I saved for some reason and glad I did.

For example, I had a folder of 99 scans, all simple 1-bit except one grayscale. After importing the folder, I could not do anything without the program freezing and/or crashing. Same problem with a larger catalog of digital photographs, couldn't do much of anything without it crashing.

This is on an iMac Core Duo, 10.6.8, 3 gigs ram.

I had my first crash with Media Pro yesterday afternoon. Never had it crash on me before. With V1.1 it stalled when trying to add photos to an open catalog using Capture One’s “Add selected images to Media Pro catalog†function. Adding the photos manually inside Media Pro (Import from Folder) works with no issues, with the same pictures, so it’s not a broken .cos file or the like.

I’ll observe it some more, and should I be able to reproduce the behaviour submit a support case.

    Cheers,
    -Sascha

Again I have to ask that if anyone is having crashes using Media Pro 1.1 they please create a support case and provide a Crash Report + System Profile.
Although this thread is on it's second page, there are only 2 cases that have done as requested above so we have very little information to go on.

I've generated a couple of crash reports... What is a system profile, a breakdown of the composition of my Mac?

every time I double click on an image, I get a small 1.5cm sq box with stripes in it that lst about a second then the software crashes...

This software has been stable ever since I first bought Iview media eight or ten years ago...

    Best Hugh

    Hugh,
Start by creating a support case and we'll give you the specifics to find the information.

As said, as soon as I can reproduce it, you’ll get a third one. 😉 But today I had no issues, even though I worked the same way as yesterday. So I guess it was my system rather than MP, but I’ll keep my eyes open (and fingers crossed).

    Cheers,

I have the same problem as most of the posts below. Eventually my catalogue crashed so many times (mostly in media view) it would not open without crashing immediately. I sent a few dozen crash reports to Phase One. Crash reporter itself seemed problematic as it hung, and required a restart to empty trash after getting rid of the V1.1 before reinstalling it.

Reinstalling V1.1 did not help. I imported the files into Bridge and started working in there, and it was stable, so it does not seem to be file problems.

I have reverted to v 1.0.1 and was able to open my catalogue, but it is flakey. I will post a support ticket, but would also like to see something here about whether or not the developers are aware of the problem, what causes it, whether they are working on it and what is the prognosis.

MP 1.1.1 has worked for me, at least in brief testing.

A question for Drew. I didn't end up filing a support case due to time constraints and not really needing the program right now (I'm an archaeologist and use it to manage field photos, so it is not an everyday tool), though I should have. However, every time it crashed it said it was sending reports to PhaseOne, at least I think that is what it said, or gave me the option to. Are this reports not looked at? If not, what is the point of them?

Good day, I'm working with media pro version 1.1.0

I've been getting crashes on loading a media file by clicking on a thumbnail.

I notice this happens with my catalog that has 50,000 plus images.. I reverted back to a version with less files I believe and this crash does not happen

I have a newer catalog that is much smaller the crash does not happen when doing the same action.

I have opened a support case on this issue.

    Thanks..

Get it worked out soon but to those that are in a fix try working with smaller catalogs.

Are you aware of Version 1.1.1? I had crashes with 1.1.0 -- but no crashes since updating to the latest version.
