shooting to external hard drive

I know this is not recommended but I was temporarily out of hard drive space on my internal hard drive so I set up a session on my external. It shows the session with all the folders and has plenty of room...even tells me I have thousands of captures available..but..when I try to process an image it sends a message saying there is not enough room on the drive. Wondering if anyone knows of something I might be doing wrong for future reference. Mac G5 3.7.1 Thanks

  Check the location of your process folder. also there may be permissions issue at play that keeping Capture One from being able to write to the disk. Of course the risks of working on external disks are very high, but they are less high if the disk has the same formatting as you Mac's internal disks. (changing the format will of course erase all of the data on the disk)
