Sessions in 4.5 Pro

When Sessions and the specific Session folder template were first introduced in C1 Pro, they were considered a foundational feature of the C1 workflow. In 4.5 Pro, a change has been introduced that is not well-documented in the user guide. (For instance, no mention is made about removing Sessions from within the program or in being able to have recourse to the earlier folder 'naming' template). So it would be helpful to have some feedback with respect to the questions I previously raised.

Amen, Ralph... one of the major flaws and disappointments for me has been eloquently brought up by you.

I also have a problem not being able to go into Preferences and choosing the way I want sessions to be named and numbered, which Profile is to be default, etc.

It does not seem logical to radically change the way sessions worked in 3.x

I have resorted to create, shoot and import ALL sessions into C1 3.7, and use C1 4.5 ONLY to adjust and process the files. That's all it's good for.

    So much for workflow...

That is precisely what I do. I put up with it in 4.1 because that was all there was, expecting that the Pro version would be comparable to 3.7+. And as you observe, not being able to designate a camera profile and quite a few other things in the preferences is a considerable bother. There is also a continuing glitch in their browser. When you choose an image in a folder containing many others and begin working on it, you will find that after a while (if in the meantime you have turned to other things like designating an output - process - folder,) in the browser you are always returned to the initial image of the folder and that you were in. the consequence is that you then have to navigate to wherever your image was in that folder. I find this a nuisance.

the session window can be set for tethered or non tethered using the drop down menu. select tethered and you'll see that you can set your capture folder as per 3.7.9. I haven't shot tethered yet as I'll be sticking with 3.7.9 for the time being. I did note that imports go into a dated folder rather than one that you name, which I'm thinking is a little unflexable, although not a bad idea.

And what do you do if you don't shoot tethered? And if you have a naming convention that you wish to use? Also, as another poster has observed, if you try to use the 4.5 Pro import function, you get a major freeze necessitating a force quit.

you can still create a tethered session even if you don't shoot tethered... BTW importing works ok for me so far (only tried it twice though), I'm sticking with 3.7.9 for the time being.
