Processing speed on Mac Pro
Greeting all,
I was able to test the Mac Pro at the Apple Store in Chicago, I didn't have a P45 system to hook up to it to test the Capture rate. The business dept let me install C1 Pro DB 3.7.4 and open a few sessions. Processing speed was 30 sec per file (8 Bit TIFF , 100 % 18 x 24 112 MB each there were P45 files).
It was a 2.66 with only 1 gig of ram config with stock 7200 rpm drive.
The software seamed fast and responsive , the focus tool was just as fast as my 17in MBP w 2gig or ram, 100 gig 7200 rpm HD. Thubs load fast and the previews, well you know are low quality, but come up fast as well.
I delete the Capure One setting filders to force the software to redraw all thubs & preview.
All in all a good fast machine, I'm not selling my Dual 2.7 w4.5 gig ram, 3-150 gig Raptors yet, until I can get a hold of a phase back and shoot teathered to ALL the FW 400 ports, just to make sure Apple hasn't done anything silly.

a P25 file processed to a 16bit 127mb tiff and a quickproof jpeg takes 38seconds on a macbook with 2gb ram compared to roughly 1min (didn't check exactly) for a G5 duel2.0 with 4gb ram.
not bad for a £1000 laptop0 -
38 secs on a Macbook... not a macbook Pro... Pretty cool 38seconds on a macbook
