Has anyone had similar issues, and more importantly, has anyone found a fix or work around?

The fix and the workaround is to use a converter by a different company. Your not the only one to have this problem around here - do a search. I love the product but the hoops that you they make you jump thru to use it has forced me to utilize other programs. This is what happens when the research and development depts don't listen to their customers - sad but true!

    Good luck 😂

I also have several removable drives (8) and I have Capture One installed on the permanent harddrive 😄
Easy solution that should work for U too. I case You have no such disk, get one ! It is worth $30 to buy a disk... 😉

I do have the application installed on the permanent drive. That is not the problem. If I forget the removable, or use a different one, then C1 thinks it has been bootlegged to a new machine and then I'm hosed.

Phase one has recognized the problem, but has no fix. As far as I can tell, the only fix might be to switch to SATA drive as the removables as they can be hot swapped.

Suggest I use external removables such as firewire or USB? No Phase one doesn't like other devices in the same chain as the tethered camera. I have both Firewire and USB tethered canons.
