You might want to go through this thread from last January.

I read a few Lion issues here. I recall one in particular, related to dual-monitor setup.

I've stuck with 10.6.7 because of the tethering issues 10.6.8 caused with previous versions of Capture One, but now with new cameras coming out other programs (Lightroom 4, EOS Utility 2.11.0) are requiring a minimum of 10.6.8 or 10.7.2.

Have those tethering issues with 10.6.8 been mostly resolved or is it still a nightmare? Should I just skip it and go straight to Lion? Or are the issues with Lion making you regret the upgrade?

Which tethering issues with 10.6.8 are you referring to? I haven't had any glaring issues with 10.6.8 that I hadn't had with 10.6.7. Then again, I'm not a Nikon user.

10.6.8 has been solid for me for quite awhile - I dont think I will ever update this Mac Pro.
I have Lion on a newer MBP and I do not like it so much - but I use alot of non-Apple applications so the bother is kept to a minimum.
the auto re-open windows is so stupid.
C1P seems to work fine for me on Lion - but I use it on there sparingly.
I would say stay on 10.6.8 unless Lion has some feature you want.

    You can switch it off.

Yes, of course, but you have to switch it off at every log off…
Maybe there's a command line to set it off definitively?

Not sure we are talking the same issue and/or the same cure. Details:
System Preferences, General tab, checkbox "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps"
I had to uncheck it only once.

    Ha!
    Hi Paul,
    you got me!
You're right and long time ago I may have switched it off in the pref panel (just checked) and forgot about it as, every time I shut off I get this pop-up window:

So I stupidly thought I had to uncheck the checkbox each time (it always comes up checked)…
    Which is not necessary.

There's another boring stuff: when I open i.e. Text edit app it opens a window containing the last text I wrote/pasted, even if the file we're not saved (I oftenly use it to "clean" texts from all enrichment (to do so: command/shift T).
And I just don't like that.

Sorry to the OP for the almost OT…

Hi Nicolas, the System Preferences setting I referred to in my previous post does exactly what you want. It prevents showing the previous contents, whether it was saved or not.

By the way, I never see the dialog for logging off or shutting down as I use the keyboard shortcuts for it.

Most stable 10.6.8 but there are some nice features in 10.7.3 but most of my machines run Snow Leopard.
If you want iCloud features then 10.7.x is a must, I dont!!

Weird, the System Preferences, General tab, checkbox "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" does appear on my office MacPro running X.7.3 but not on my MacBook - Pro 2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50)!
    There may be a bug somewhere… 🙄

Nicholas C, is your MBP pre unibody? I am running 10.5.8 on a pre unibody MBP and it is unstable (c1 6.3.5), ssd hd, 6g of ram(maxed). do you run c1 on your MBP?

    Yes to the 1st Q.
No to the 2nd. I'm running Lion and the latest C1 6.3.5 without any trouble.
But it is not my main machine. I do my main job on a Mac Pro (same system) and C1 works well (it crashes only if I have intensively used LR and CS5 during the same session)
