Importing barcodes into C1 metadata

Hi! My client is asking about importing barcode UPC #'s into the image metadata in C1 for a high volume catalog using a barcode scanner. Anyone know if this is possible and if so how to do it. Thanks!

  It's possible, as the barcode scanner is merely an input device (similar to a regular ol' keyboard). The manual/straightforward way would be to click into the client's desired Metadata field and scan the barcode, then, when processing, be sure to include the metadata into the output file.
  
  The more efficient/desirable way would be through AppleScript. I suggest checking out the Scripting forum, I believe this issue has been addressed there in the past.
