What was the crash message? Maybe that does gives us a hint.

Although I am not sure, but if you choose "Submit report...", you can view the report before submit.
If I am correct, and I advise you to submit, than you can also print/copy the report, open a support case and paste the report. You need PO to help you out, I am afraid.

I downloaded the software last night, MAC OSX10.4.11 on an older G4, DP 1 GHZ, 2 Gig ram, and it would not even start, exact same issue as listed above. The previous version of C1 4.0 ran fine.

The dialog query, if you would like to submit a report never came up, as it did not "Crash" rather it did not even start.

Kind of a bummer as, I like the new version.

    Hi Paul-
    Try this:
After deleting all aspects of 4.0/4.01 .
Proceed to getting yourself a new download and then installing.
Then bring in only new captures, see if this resolves the situation.
You could be 'quitting' due to a corrupted image. ( you can systematically weed this out later ) Also take note of what other softwares that might be opened at same time and close them down as well.

    Kind regards-

C1 4.01 is quitting on me - it opens with a folder that I had made a web gallery from, so there are a lot of files selected. I tried removing a lot of the files from the folder before launching C1 - still quitting. I then tried to remove everything C1 4.01, reinstalled C1 4.01 but it still opened the same folder and crashed. I must have missed removing something C1 4.01 - can you tell me what files I need to find & remove please? (I also inadvertently removed some C1 3.7 Pro files & had to set it up again..)
    I am running C1 4.01 on a G5 dual processor and OS X 10.4.11.
Otherwise is there any way of forcing C1 4.01 to start up without locking on to a particular folder?

    thank you

    Antonia,
You could try to remove Capture One.col from ~/Pictures/Capture One Library and start CO4 again. This will cause CO4 *not* to go to the previous opened folder (among others).

    If that does not help:
    - You could also remove the ~/Library/Capture One folder and start CO4 again.
    - A third option is to remove the preference plist file com.phaseone.captureone.plist from ~/Library/Preferences
Please let us know if this helped you. Good luck.

Thank you - removing Capture One.col worked fine in this case. What is it - is it the memory of where the program was the last time it was opened?

The Capture One.col file stores several information. As far as I determined myself it stores latest folder opened, Output Folder, Favorite Folder, Albums.
But I am sure more information is stored in the file. The file is created the first time you start CO4 and maintained since then by the program. If you delete it, it will be created the next time. It is a SQL script file. CO4 has SQL engine built-in for several purposes. (SQL is a database language)

I suspected that your (Antonia's) problem was caused by a corrupt settings file with the one mentioned here as primary suspect.
