No option to choose "Camera Custom" in White Bal

    Marc,

Not sure if Case 8644 is yours, but I'll reply here as well.

In v3.7 I do get a Custom choice for a 1Ds MkII image. v3.6 Capture One implements a \"Custom WB\" to become \"As Shot\" if the image was taken with Custom WB.
Some believe Custom as an option should not exist in C1 for any camera since it is not a specific value. As Shot is developers answer to this.

To be honest, even after a past battle cry of Custom WB your Camera!!, it is so very easy with great results to establish the WB in the Capture One software, I'd forget about setting it in-camera. Shoot a grey card or Macbeth chart under the lighting situation as my first image for a shoot, and then make my captures. Then I establish WB from grey card using the White Balance tool, and select all other images and hit apply WB to and I'm done.
With Pro v3.7 you will be able to Tether directly into Capture One now. So workflow could be shoot grey card or Macbeth card and set the WB to following captures and commence shooting your Session.

    Sincerely,

    Keith,

    That is my support case.
    Thanks for your response.
However, I think that my post might have been misunderstood.

Indeed, on the 10D, (not specific to C1 3.6 or 3.7), if I use Custom White Balance setting in-camera, then in C1, I get the choice of \"Camera Custom.\" (This is one of the actual choices in the drop-down list).

However, on the 1Ds MarkII, (not specific to C1 3.6 or 3.7), if I use Custom White Balance setting on the camera, I DO NOT get the choice of \"Camera Custom.\" (This is NOT one of the actual choices in the drop-down list).

Just curious as to why there is this discrepency between the two cameras in the White Balance Section of C1. I was not referring to a difference between the versions of C1 3.6 or C1 3.7.

Thanks for the advice on that white balance alternative when using C1. I am aware of that technique of white balancing during processing. However, I am part of the battle cry who will continue to use the in-camera White Balance setting (which was set in the camera after being measured off of a 18% gray card).

    d c,

On a few DSLRs, (Canon 10D being one of them), you will see the Camera Custom as a choice. This setting is equivalent to the As Shot setting when an in-camera custom WB is set. This setting will be going away.

When you do an in-camera custom white balance on your Mk II, this value is recognized and is the As Shot setting. You expected to see Camera Custom but the As Shot is the setting of choice here, and the information is applied.
Custom only comes up in Capture One if you use the eyedropper tool to select a gray card target or a neutral area within the image.

Thank You for your input, it helped initiate a Knowledge Base and Tips&Tricks articles. 😊

    Sincerely

    k c
