how do you sort in 4.5?
i cant find a way of sorting images in a pre defined order by moving images around. the only options that i can see (after scrolling through the 100 page user guide) is to rename the files. the only options i can see is the 5 star system, that obviously doesnt work when you have over 5 shots. why cant i just be able to arrange the images in my order with the thumbnails??
this is really impractical. am i missing something?

I quote two lines, the first is funny (for me it is and running in a contest for quote of the week), the second answers to yes. But back to business:
In CO 4.5.1 you can sort the thumbnails by name, rating (yeah, the stars), color tag, ISO, focal, date, size. The selection list is in the bar just above the thumbnails and in the View, Sort menu. Note that in the menu you find more options. The drop down selection list might not be directly immediately visible if you have the browser at the right.
To be able to sort on color tag or star rating, you must apply it first. You can do that one image at a time or apply a rating or tag to a selection. You can not randomly order your thumbs as far as I know.
Whether a 5-star rating makes sense for more than 5 images in a folder or session or not is up to you (I think it does). Likewise, I won't go into a discussion whether you give your best images 1 or 5 star rating. 😄0 -

hi, im not trying to be funny! i was up untill 1am trying to work this out last night (a 18 hour day). i needed to make a webgallery yesterday and i needed to make a specific order of 60 images. i needed to present my shots in a coherent series, not just "chosen", "not chosen", or a star rating.
i know 3.7.9 didnt do this, but bridge does. it seems like a simple request to allow a sorting option to randomly sort the thumbs (like you described). even LC 11 does this!
i cant see any work arounds, even when i name "001", "002" etc, it wasnt completely reliable. i tried that, and one picture got repeated with different numbers, and for some weird reason "002" was sorted at the bottom of the list behind "060".
thanks for the reply
