open as read only?
Sometimes when I open a Media Pro file it tells me that it is "read only" because I am already using the catalog and that I have to save as any changes. I got this with Media Expresson 2 as well fairly often. If I try to save over the files in the same location, Media Pro tells me the catalog is lock, click sabe to unlock, etc. What have I missed to not go through this process so often? I am the only one who uses the computer and who accesses the catalogs. The catalogs are stored on the internal drive.
Thanks,

You have missed the same thing that I have - and I am only guessing at what it is. That's why my master catalog is now up to v6.
I believe it is/was related to program freezes. It hasn't done it for a while, in part I think because I have more patience with the program when it is off "thinking" or doing something. MP can only do one thing at a time, and if you stack commands by clicking somewhere while it is working, it can freeze up.

That makes sense. I'll show some patience tin the future and see if that makes a difference. 0 -
when you select Save it brings up the window and you can click "save", but it doesn't do anything, so you think it hasn't been selected, and so you do other things and then it freezes. There is a lag in many of the selections rather functions selected.
This is my issue with CO6. And I use a quad 3.6ghz with 16gb ram system with a SSD for scratch, and images on a rather fast piped server(80mb/sec)0
