magenta streak
Hi all,
I encounted something while shooting a product last week. I am using the Capture 1 Pro 3.7 with a PowerBook 10.3.9. The problem is on one capture only a 2 cm streaky magenta line appeared on the right side of the frame running top to bottom. All other captures were fine and no streak. Some time aback I remmbered reading a similar problem but with the Phase 1 back. I am shooting with D1s tethered. Has anyone had a similar problem and any fixes.

Sounds to me like a shutter \"hiccup\". Make sure your shutters are new, and/ or properly serviced. The flash sync outlet also needs to be in perfect condition.
If this was a one-time event, my guess is the shutter was not quite ready for action (first exposure of day?)
Or, it may be a sign a troubles to come with this shutter.0 -
Dillion,
Thanks for your thoughts on the magenta streak issue. You mention shutter problem, looking back I have encounted some wild exposures coming through, over-exposure by 4 stops. The lens is an Apo-Digitar 120 macro for the cambo 35. I know this is not the topic for this forum, but you mention shutter. The problem is the camera with exposure , but I an not sure about the magenta streak. Any futher thoughs on this .

My phaseone distributor in Michigan made sure that we tested all lenses before putting the system to work. Of the 5 or 6 lenses that I use, one needed to have the Copal shutter replaced. He explicitly described the magenta streak problem that you have, as being one that I would have. If I continued with that particular shutter.
Sometimes it is as easy as \"tuning up\" the flash sync outlet. I am unfamiliar with your lens, but assume that the shutter is not incorporated in the lens, but a separate piece.0 -
Dillion,
The shutter problem maybe is with the camera canon 1Ds the lens does
not have a shutter. Thanks for the infor, will keep you touch.

I had a simular problem with a P25 back tethered to an ibook shooting models.
The difference was my magenta lines went horz. one or two per image. random in placement and in images shot.
Couldn't find the cause, and gave my rep Russ Nelson one of the files to check out with Phase One. This was about 4 week ago. Haven't heard anyting yet.
It was the reps P25 so were not overly concerned. Our H20 has never had that problem.
Sorry no answer, just fyi

Try changing your firewire cable. I was shooting with an H25 to a G5 and i started getting a vertical magenta line on the right side of my screen. I just changed the cable. IT'S ALWAYS THE CABLE.........

I got the same magenta streak (agout 10 pixels wide) on the right side of my P25 file, when i applied the lens calibration correction in Capture One. eleanor 0 -

A friend of mine had a similar problem, turned out to be camera software related. Make sure you have the latest firmware on board your camera.
Its not a C1 fault, try your camera forums they might help, my friends camera was a nikon and he found the solution from nikon, and only occured in high key lighting situations.
cheers

Hi All,
thanks again for all the help. The camera has canon Ver 1.0.3 firmware.
I will check the canon site for updates on the D1s .
