    Howard,

You can have as many floating tools as you can fit in the screen as far as I know. Multiple versions of each tool as well if you wish. That can be quite useful for tools with multiple adjustment tabs - Curves and levels for example.

You can link then into groups  - they will lock to each other if you touch together on horizontal edges.

I should add that the "tabs" are only a convenience for grouping not a restriction on tool placement and that once you have set up your favoured Workspace you should save it, giving it a name of your choosing that is different from anything the C1 team might use at any point so that it will remain yours (and likely your default) until you choose to change it again.

I'm not sure I would want so many tools open but I do change the contents of tabs, set up personalised tabs and use floating tools  - all quite regularly with some changes applied to some Workspace definitions.

Well apologies are in order ... due to my lack of knowing some the cool features of Capture One.
I have not only just discovered DUAL Monitor mode, but also the floating tool bar...
As you say, why would i want all the tool tabs open now.
The more i use Capture One the more i love it - this discovery of just dual monitor means i can have less use for ON1.
HUGE THANKS for pointing out what may have been obvious, but i just wasn't familiar with the feature.

    Hi Howard,

    Thank you for your post.

You can add a floating tool and place them anywhere on the screen. To do that, just go to the main menu and select Windows -> Create Floating Tool -> [tool]

Also, you can simply drag out certain tools from the tool tabs and place them anywhere.

Alternatively, you can create a custom tool tab by right-clicking on the tool tab panel and selecting Add Tool Tab -> Custom Tool tab (more details in this article) and populate it with your favorite tools.

    Howard,

There is a lot to discover - and then decide which elements are useful at a personal level. Rare is the person who would make use of all of them.

I have seen a number of videos over the years where some C1 users seem to use only the Keyboard shortcuts. Impressive when you see it in action but I know my brain has never given me any reason to assume I could be one of that group. They hardly need to see the tools at all. Or so it seems.

In most cases that I have looked at there will be a way in C1 of performing RAW conversion and editing tasks offered by any other application that offers RAW conversion. Bit not features that are more akin to graphics editing and art work.

They may look different and work differently but they are likely there.

Coming to C1 from something that looks and works significantly differently can be a challenge, especially if one has been using the previous product for some years. I was perhaps lucky in that I arrived at C1 world from another favoured application that was in many ways similar and already had features that have been added to C1 over the years (in some but not all cases.). That made it an easier transition and in my case provided a faster route to results with less intervention from me. Which in may case made for a relatively easy transition. It would have been even easier had I recognised sooner the power of Sessions. (Catalogues were not part of the application back then but in any case I had been avoiding catalogues previously so I did not miss them.)

The chances are that if you think you would like something there will be a way to do it. Maybe just not obvious without a little digging and perhaps adjustment to some terminology. I don't mind that. I find it makes the discovery more readily remembered - especially if it is only an occasional requirement that one discovers.
