C1 v20.latest (Windows platform) -> "Process Recipe" tool  -> "Open with" -> "Other"

Why in the world developers of C1 insist that we can select only .exe files and can't select command/batch files (.cmd, .bat) ? 

Is there anything more complex happening than simply invoking an "executable"
file with a generated .tiff (or whatever) passed as first parameter in the command line for it ? 

I need to do something before actually running PS - hence I need to use a script and start photoshop from within (as a side note - compiling scripts into .exe executable does not work for C1 now... earlier versions of C1 v20 simply hanged and the recent (current) one does not work - with the message like "Connection with the plugin failed. Please try again"... )

Can we fix this and allow generic scripts to be launched ?

    have you tried autoit scripts compiled as .exe? can they run what you need?

    I am using bat2exe from https://www.f2ko.de/ - it used to work with prev. versions of C1... not with v20 anymore

    try autoit? it might be a while if they even do this request
